pool feels like it's missing design and interest

i’m having this pool built right now and I am not happy with the elevation. The company said that they had to do it this way because the elevation was higher than they expected. How can I make this feel more cohesive? I don’t know if I’m stuck with it but it was only supposed to be a 1 foot drop from the pool to the first level but now it’s 24 inches so they had to put those ridiculous stairs in there.

Shy of demoing the entire thing and starting over I see no other way than living with the steps.

I think it is hard to help at this stage maybe just a much wider set of steps to look more like it was palnned . Waht was tha next level down planned for use ? It seems very narrow so just wondering. The steps and walkway at the water are a much bigger issue for me so what kind of railing is going there since comming off those steps would be down right dangerous .

They've already built the pool. Your options are to either rip it out or redesign the steps. Does it have to pass a safety code inspection in your area?

I don't understand how you are only complaining at this point in the project?

The issue would have been obvious several steps back, when they might have been able to make corrections without tearing everything out. If you weren't happy, why did you even let them install the pavers?

Are the stairs temporary? They are not all the same rise and are a tripping hazard? Why not set them in front of the dock ramp since that would be where you are going? I think this now needs a new design idea and not just stair slapped willy nilly. Go back to design phase of getting this corrected with what has been done so far. The steps can change to make it more appealing but these are not it.

I think that if you tie in different seating areas on the pool level and the mid level it can be cohesive and look intentional.

Pool area is centered around the pool, maybe a firepit on the near end or a conversation area / lounge with outdoor sectional, etc.

Then the level down is a outward facing viewing area with chairs that face the water.

This leaves the dockside area free for walking.

What is the depth measurement of the stair tread? Maybe a shorter riser with deeper ( wider) treads ? The steps are what bothers me.

Also to add IF it was my area I would be getting rid of the centre level and putting it at pool level with only 1 set of stairs down to the dock level and a railing of course because it would be high off the dock level.
