IMO, all of the siding should run horizontally. Also, why white? I'm not sure, but it looks like some of the neighboring houses are white. Consider using an earthy color that would complement the landscape.

What would be a good color? Front door color if I do an earthy color?

Put board and batten on the gables and horizontal siding on the rest of the house, or......do the whole house in board and batten.

Have you tried the visualizer on the Hardie website? when we were picking a color I looked for non pro pics on Instagram and Facebook as they tended to be less filtered - local contractors would often snap a few pics of projects and post them and those gave the best representation of the colors

BM Nantucket Gray is a nice exterior color, looks green-ish/khaki outside. It would look great with a red door.

I think all one type of siding horizontal and any color but white since that huge garage is so in your face a huge white box is not ideal. Waht do you plan for that monster box that should have been a front drive for sure . As for a door I can't even see where the door is the type of garge entry ruins any ability to have nice landscaping near the home . Sorry but siding is now a must to get right and IMO no way white

I think all one type of siding. I'm traditonal, I'd go with horizontal, but board and batten is fine, too. I have a bias against white, as I think it is done to death, but a warm cream might be nice, close enough to white without being what everyone else is doing.

I see no reason why you can't have lovely landscaping.

One color, one direction, but consider using two different sizes for visual interest (especially with that enormous garage looming in the front). See examples here (this is Iron Gray):

@Sigrid ….. You’re correct, of course this can be landscaped beautifully, done all the time, looks like there’s plenty of room. Enlisting the services of a landscape designer/architect would be very helpful. All it takes is creativity, & imagination. And some $, lol.

Not sure about the negative comments. Celery's inspo image has quite nice/appropriate landscaping.
