HELP PLEASE!! Buying house for interior...needs curb appeal quick! :D

My husband and I fell in love with this house for the interior and for its position on a lake with an incredible tree house view. Its built into a hill so it walks out basement level and looks incredible from the lake side. The street view however is awful.. We need curb appeal!!

We are very traditional so its a shock to all we are buying this contemporary dog. I can live with the front façade if I can change it into a Seabrook/Kiawah/Hilton Head contemporary island looking house that blends in and you just notice the lush landscape. Here's what I'm envisioning and tell me what to tweak or change.

Imagining a grand front door with stained glass or iron scrollwork that will shine out at night. I foresee thinning the grand oak in the front yard and getting it off the roof.. perhaps elegant up lighting. The overgrown shrubs have to go! Id like to add some palms and keep bushes to a minimum. Perhaps some pampas grass? I for see straightening out the siding on the bias... despise that. I don't mind the dark brown color. The lighter tan/rust color roof is fugly... Perhaps grey brown?? I can also envision adding fake dormers?? not like a cape cod but just a peak to give the front some interest. There's one or two on the back of the house... like this.. ^ what's that called?? The garage door is new. Can I add windows or need to replace? What kind of garage door would improve the look of it? Or should I just paint it? Any suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated!! THANKS!!!
