All your lighting is basically cans and now your Ah Hah idea is spot lights? Consider lighting with more character. There are dozens of pro designers here that can help you find just the thing.

You don't need pendants or surface mounted lights over your island. Just change them out to recessed lights for a clean look.

Not every kitchen island has to have pendants. I have a large u-shaped kitchen and didn't do any pendants over the island.

I agree with Chispa, no pendant lights are needed. Pendants, like those “library” lights that people put up, are dust gathering decor that is not necessary unless they really solve a lighting problem you can’t address in a less ”in your face” way.

I agree, I don't need pendants. But now ill have way too many pot lights. I already wished I had installed fewer.

Those three will be switched separately, so you won't have to have all of them on at the same time. Make sure you have dimmers on all the switches too.
