Home office layout???

Home office with 2 swing-in doors on opposite walls (one is an office storage closet) and other is entry door off of foyer. Windows and built-ins opposite each other on other walls. Need a desk with chair and at least one other place for someone to sit and would be nice to have one small piece of storage if possible. Built-in can’t be removed because it’s concealing ductwork. Additionally, I need a monitor mounted on wall.

Hi— who needs to see the wall mounted monitor and how big do you need it. Would you back be to it? If yes I think you have to either change the closet to be a hall closet or get creative creative with the door and make it hidden

Do you need two entrances into the office? I would close off the foyer entrance.

First thought is to eliminate the door to the Foyer and that gives you a nice full solid wall. I do not feel there is any need for two entrance doors to this room. If you want to do a further renovation I would move the closet to the built in area and even move the hallway entry door.

Storage goes in the closet . The built in keep it simple with a bit of decor not so much office . Is this where you conduct actaul business? If so then we need info as to the type of business. That drives many things. I like to face awindow at my desk but if you need a wall mounted monitor then that will drive how the desk sits. What size monitor why wall mounted ? IMO closing off the foyer door will make this space fell bad and also affect resale down the road and the other door is how you probably access the bathroom or the kitchen in the home so IMO do not touch the doors Most office stuff can now be wireless so I usually put it all in a closet . This is nice sized space so no need to clutter it up with printers, file cabinets etc. But we do need a bit more info please . The monitor placement will dribve the layout so figure that out first then the deck faces that and all elese gets arranged to suit what you need .

Hi Patricia. The office will be used for medical practice administration, charting, etc. The monitor is about 50 inches and is used for reviewing patient scans. It has to be wall mounted on a special plate that contains light tubes on one side (the monitor is capable of viewing non-electronic ct-scans) I agree with leaving the doors. I actually have to keep the swing-in style door in order to have the appropriate locks on both entrances. (HIPPA) Barn doors wouldn’t work but I hate Barn doors anyway. Ok. So this is good! I’ll keep all supplies, files, etc, organized in the closet so that leaves more open space in the main area.

I’m the only one that needs to see the monitor and the two doors provide access to didferent parts of the home. The main door is from the foyer and the back door leads down a hallway to a barhroom. It does feel a bit off now that I’m in the home and getting settled but it is also nice to have direct access to that bathroom without walking around the front of the house through the living room. The Real crazy thing about this house is the dysfunctional kitchen with the master bedroom entrance right through the middle! I’ll be starting a new discussion on that. ITS A FULL Demolition for sure!

Here are some photos of the office. The door shown is the main entrance door from the foyer. The wall not shown is the closet wall, with the additional entry from the back hallway.

The color on the wall is Creekside green but I’m not against painting, wall papering, whatever. I want to replace the fan with a nice light fixture. I really don’t need a fan in my office. This is my little space. Nobody else will be using my office so I am free to do anything!
