where to add a second bathroom?

Would like a second full bath so the house becomes 3 bed 2 bath (one with tub, one with only shower). I would like both baths to have a window. Would also like to have a door to the outside on the side of the house where the current bathroom is, ideally not in a bedroom. The extra space in the bedrooms seems to be in inconvenient places for adding a bath within the current envelope of the home. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

And if you think morning this floor plan, where would you add it if I told you the addition needs to be somewhere on the bottom wall and most of the sunlight comes from the left side.

I don’t think you will get much advice without pictures of your house and a detailed floor plan with measurements.

Debra, do you know if I can go back and add the floor plan to the original post? You think it will get found and seen here or I should repost?

Do you want the 2nd bathroom attached to a bedroom? Is there any possibility of building out the front or back? What about the corner where the kitchen and living room? Or is that the door there?

The front door is the one that goes top to bottom into the living room at the top of the image

That I don’t know, sorry. It shows here though.

I don’t really mind where as long as it’s a reasonable place for a shower

I think building out the bottom is the most reasonable option

Bottom right seems to make most sense to me sun-wise to not shade the yard to the right of it from morning sun

This is the side of the house that seems like it could have an addition if I can’t add within current footprint. It’s the bottom of the floor plan image.

Blue arrow in upper left is front door. Driveway is even further in the upper left out of the picture. Pink box is furnace room (plan to move furnace at some point and shrink this to a smaller space and a coat and vacuum closet)

What is the small bump out by the kitchen? If that is a laundry room, maybe it can be expanded. Or, you can fit a small bathroom into the big bedroom where the closet is. Take a couple feet off the living room to put the closet on that wall. My smallest two bathrooms are 50” x 80” and 54” x 70” .

Above kitchen wall (including that bump out which has a door to the outside, one to the garage proper, and one to a moth balled staircase) is basically garage space. Not sure it’s what people would typically consider a reasonable place for a shower, but I have considered a 1/2 bath there. Ultimately though, I want two showers. What do you think given that info?

Maybe along the wall between bedrooms 2 and 3 and the entrance is in the bedroom (s)

Or this? (No idea if the plumbing is workable, or whether I've removed bearing walls.)

I absolutely love what you did to split the space from dining room and bedroom. You may be onto something!! I have a big rectangular dining room table but I wonder if I can make a version of what you did for my table with leaves in when I entertain AND have the second bathroom. You have some skill here!

That bedroom needed more closet space too! Plus it’s the one currently with the bed. Bedroom two is currently a TV room, so in current configuration this is actually perfect

Except if the table leaves cant fit. I’ll tinker and see

I think simplynatural has a great idea just make sure that wall next to the DR is ultra insulated for sound .
