Ken, is your Whirlaway on fort. rootstock? It looks amazing!

Kentucky---Yes, it is on fortuniana rootstock. It was 2 yrs old in a 25 gal. nursery pot when I moved to NE GA in 2008. It was a bear to get into the ground, but it likes where it is at. A lot of it is probably own root. When I planted it, I had the graft at ground level. Over the years a lot of compost and mulch has buried the graft union. It's a happy bush. I got a baby bush of Whirlaway on multiflora (from Steve, Wisconsin Roses) last year. It has been VERY vigorous and will go in the ground next to my established Whirlaway this spring. I want to see how they compare with each other. I'm STILL playing with my roses and I'm going on 80 years old. I stay busy and my body keeps working. :-)

Ken, I can’t wait for the updates on Whirlaway. Yes, the rose bush does look happy and you must be happy ”playing” with them! A labor of love, no matter what age!
