Use Bona red out or something similar and apply a stain over it. Stains have better pigments than Nordicseal. Less color changing effect. Bona craft oil Frost is an option. You have to allow the oil to dry for a couple of days before coating over it. Need to make sure all the bleed back stops prior to applying top coats.

Another option is Berger Seidle stain in "white oak" or similar colors. they have a variety of whites. Ultra white is another color. High quality pigments, so less color changing. Top coats should be matte or ultra matte(raw) for scandy style.

You will just end up with splotchy pink floors with the vast majority of ”floor guys”. Just clear coat and call it good..

I just have family members that are like absolutely against me changing my red oak to engineered and if I start one room, wouldn't I have to eventually finish the entire house in the new engineered floor?

People will change functional golden oak kitchen cabinets and further update the configuration of a kitchen. Oak floors using narrow solid wood is the same for me. If you were building new what would you choose.

I'd choose 10" wide plank European Oak engineered hardwood in a pale non yellow matte finish.
