No need for a solid rug in here. This room can surely take more pattern. Feels like it needs more pattern or more something...

it's a huge help if you take photos by turning your phone sideways like they would for MLS, real estate photos so we can see more of the room and its context.

I think your furnishing placement needs an adjustment. Make sure that the front legs of all your seating are positioned on the area rug.

Of course you can have more pattern for your area rug.

You might want to consider a larger screen and cabinet in the future for this area.

Your drapery panels are more texture than pattern. There's no rule about not combining patterns provided there is a link through the different fabrics like color.

Tumbnails don't work for me and neither do the links.

Your curtains will go with just about anything.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I’m not much on floral rugs, but your recommendations have given me the confidence to consider a patterned rug rather than the boring solid ones. Sorry if my photos weren’t helpful, but greatly appreciate all of your comments!

Sorry, but a lot of pattern on a lot of windows . Too many disjointed, unrelated pieces of furniture, I'd work on that a bit as resources allow

Size and scale relationships... such as side table at couch, and too small and unrelated cocktail table. Too small console beneath tv. Reduce the clutter up on mantel. That sort o thing: )
