I am not a fan of exposed bulb lights, anywhere in a home. Think about looking into a bare bulb at night... I would select a simple drum shade with a diffuser.

Measure the size of the space, length plus width, to get the diameter needed, don't over size.

looks like 4' x 8' 12" diameter light needed, nothing bigger.

I like the idea of the same shape as the DR one but a drum and BTW you need good lighting for night time regardless of saylight . In fat it needs to be lit just like daylight at night . The one Lyn shows is not bad since it has light coming from the whole fixture

Personally, I like the drum lights for this but, I would choose a woven or rattan material to pull the space together.

Looking at your photos, you’ve already got those great woven baskets on the wall hooks and the floor. Bringing that same rattan texture up to the ceiling with the light will tie the whole room together perfectly. It would create a texture triangle (floor, wall, ceiling), and make the room feel super cohesive.

Plus, your foyer has a lot of straight lines (square room, rectangular door panes, square panels), and the round form factor would add some softness to the room.

One install tip:
If you decide to go with this light, since you are swapping out a recessed can, don't forget to grab a "Recessed Light Converter Kit" (~$30 bucks at Lowes). It will save you from having to do any drywall work.

I would keep the recessed light and make sure it was lamped with a PAR bulb. The sparkle provided by this bulb has no competition.

I think the quality of that light would be the best for your foyer, but if you insist on change here are options.
