Kitchen lighting advice

Hi! I am rennovating my kitchen and need advice on the type of light to hang above my kitchen window. I would like for it to be more of an accent light, not the centerpiece of the kitchen. there will be no pendant lights over the island because theres no center to the room due to visible ceiling beams that are beautiful, so just the dimming can lights and then under the cabinet lights as well. The counterops will be MSI calacatta gold, and brass hardware.

I don't think you need to choose the fixture at this stage. I think you're better off waiting so you can see anything you buy after the majority of the kitchen is completed. If you're able to see it with the cabinets and countertop in place you can return it if doesn't work out for whatever reason. You usually have to return items within 30 days.

There are million pictures of kitchens on Houzz. You might want to peruse them and see if a particular style appeals to you. We lack context to be able to make good recommendations as well. What is your style? What do adjacent rooms look like? If you like your dining room fixture that can offer you clues as to what type of fixtures you should be considering.

Consider using a pair of can lights over the sink instead of a decorative fixture. One can light is probably not going to be bright enough to see well enough to clean the dishes, water the plants, and so on.

If you strongly prefer a decorative light, look for a semi-flush fixture that has bulbs pointing down. Choose the same finish as the cabinet hardware. Opaque shades will prevent the glare from bulbs.

I never like the look of the short/squat windows that builders tend to install in kitchens. I would try to fit the tallest window that the wall framing will allow.

Why the corner cabinet on the window / stove wall?IMO too early to choose actual fixtures I do not think this is the place for pendants so why not just the same pot lights as everyhwere else . If down the road you want to change that is an easy job.

Doing the dishes is such a thankless job, it would be great to have a tiny piece of jewelry in that spot.

I agree with chispa, the window is almost comically undersized, but changing a window has implications for the exterior of the home, so I get it if you decide to keep it.

That said, because of that large space, I think a couple of sconces might look better than a hanging fixture there. Your electrician should be able to manage it. These are Lucy fixtures by Lark.
