It could fit in the backyard though, near the corner. to the right of the house is a manmade bioswale, so no neighbors to worry about.

That tree is too large for either the back or front yards. It’s really not even appropriate for your zone. You have some very good nurseries in your area, if would be worth your while to have them do a landscape design, even could be done in stages. I live about 20-30 minutes from you, beach, my favorite trees, depending upon the look you’re going after, are Forest Pansy Redbuds, Crape myrtles, Little Gem Magnolias & various citrus & palms, A fruitless olive tree would look good, Palo Verde also.

I ended up planting it and an “autumn fantasy” maple. Will update

Hi, neighbor. Unfortunately, your maple isn't going to appreciate the lack of winter chill here. It may grow, but it probably isn't going to be very happy, nor dependably provide the autumn color level you might desire. What are the attributes you were seeking with your choice? Maybe a different species, better matched to our climate limitations, would provide a more satisfying result.

Im seeing it as a challenge. I want to see what exotics can grow here. If succesfull these will be quite stately trees.

Having long been in the industry and maybe more tired of the common offerings than most people, I have pushed and experimented with many a plant over the decades. Failure with large trees is a different level than yanking a shrub. They may well reach maturity at some point, but stress from unfavorable growing conditions greatly increases their risk from insects and diseases, and if you are located where I think you are, wind damage.

Removing an unsafe mature tree is a greater financial, emotional and has greater time investment impact than other landscape plant material categories. If a large portion of what was growing around that large shade-producing tree is suddenly forced into full sun conditions, the consequences are magnified.

I've lived here long enough to remember when maple trees cycled. Many more were planted than are seen as stately specimen plants today.

That’s a terrible choice & location. There are lots of ”exotics” that are appropriate for your location, that is NOT one of them.

I think it is sad to plant a tree that is doomed to die because of where it is planted.
