How can I make this look better?

last month

It seems that we have made some mistakes with this bathroom renovation. The bathtub surround and floor tile just dont look right together. Any thoughts on how i could make these work a a bit better together without changing the tile or bathtub surround? I am planning to put up a shower curtain, not sure if I should stick with white.

On my computer, the wall color looks like the problem to me. It looks pinkish beige which conflicts with the gray and white tiles. I think the walls would be better if painted in a more true white color (i.e., a white that has a tiny touch of black to give an undertone that is not so warm). Then add your accessories -- maybe a trailing plant on a shelf over the toilet, a mirror or medicine cabinet over the sink, etc. What do the lights over the vanity look like? A plain shower curtain (or simple textured white curtain) would be best, in my opinion, so as not to conflict with the floor pattern.

The light fixture that was there before looks something like this in oil rubbed bronze. I thought I would likely use it again but open to changing it. I will be putting in a new mirror once I’ve narrowed down the color scheme. I love the idea of adding in some greenery.

The paint color on the wall is too beige. Change that or install wallpaper.

You can always divide the tile in the shower from the floor by installing full height shower curtains.

NO BRONZE LIGHT FIXTURE. Select something that matches your current bathroom hardware.

Without doing a tear-out and rebuild, I suggest paint the walls in a complementary color that enhances the gray tile.

Ditch the light fixture for something more contemporary. And add lighting. The current lighting is inadequate see. "Bathroom Mistakes That Owners Regret" for more information on adequate lighting.

I would probably buy a new vanity and sink. This one just look like a Home Depot special. But, if you are not going to replace it, paint it.

As for the color, I would consult with a color specialist at you local Sherwin-Williams.

Unless pictures are deceiving, there are a few shades of white, so a white shower curtain and paint is not recommended. To connect all the components, suggest using a grey shower curtain (one that reaches the floor) and a bit lighter grey paint. Depending on how you accessorize, you may decide to paint the vanity.

Yes, I definitely fell into to the trap of too many whites. I am thinking paint the vanity and a shower curtain that is not white will help.

Please do not waste your funds on buying another sink and vanity.
The one you have has clean lines.Try fastening a towel bar along the left side for handy access.
Once you have your desired shower curtain and towels everything will come together nicely!
Decor enhancements are up to you! Plants,a wicker waste basket, etc.
For safety reasons I generally avoid placing glass jars and containers in the bathroom and the laundry.
It is your space, your expression! I have several shower curtains in different prints that I interchange ,but still looking for one with the periodic table.
    Show us how you decorated!

Is the tile in the shower/tub real marble?

If yes, using real and faux marble near each other is a bad idea.

Also, if the tile in the shower/tub area is real + has just been installed, it will lighten/whiten up some as it dries. It takes awhile for it to fully dry.

    no it's not real marble.

    lisedv got it right

try some warm wood shelves over the toilet.

and a basket like she has.

Instead of white walls, or a white vanity, try a darker gray.

wood and greenery makes a big diff. add in a teak stool or bathmat.

you have a very tall space above the toilet. do something like this:

    add some warmth, color, contrast.

    wood, plants, some wall art.

you see how gray everything is here? but look at the warmth all of the items on the right bring to the party.

Painting that cheaper-made factory vanity takes a lot of prep work. might be better to sell it and get a darker vanity or a wood one.
