Help needed for this master bedroom with sloped ceilings.

last modified: last month

I want to add moldings on the walls and paint the room to something else. Should I add moldings to the sloped part of the ceiling as well? Also, any other thoughts on what I can do? Was also thinking of adding trim to the windows.

Thanks in advance!

Not on the ceiling and maybe on the walls . I think the trim on the walls could make decor difficult so maybe give us some clue as to your style .

Thanks Patricia. I was just hoping for my walls not to look too bare. I don't really have a preferred style. But if I have to choose one, it would be a mixture of modern farmhouse and tudor.

If you can’t remove the carpet then I would spend my money on a fabulous bed and window treatments for the back wall, I don’t think the trim will add much impact and it will be a tedious project

If you don’t have furniture/decor to consider, a mix of Farmhouse (which has style variations) and Tudor is a direction I can’t envision.

The first step is to define the exact style and only then consider the molding’s design. Consider only adding behind the bed and you’ll save money/effort and still have lots of impact.

It can be intimidating to start with a blank slate. See if you can save at least 20 pictures to your empty Ideabook so you know what direction you want to go in. It also helps us understand what you like. It is premature to be doing paneling at this point.

No trim until you get furniture and place it add art a dresser maybe a chair honestly the trim will in no way help. Farmhouse is dying and why tudor at all. I agree post some pics in your idea books so we can see your idea of style . Start with a bed it is a must . That capet will drive the bus so you better love it .

You begin with the floor plan and then decide if the molding on the walls is needed.

Picture frame trim is decidedly TRADITIONAL and so the style of your home and the other rooms has a bearing on if this trim is appropirate. If the home is more CONTEMPORARY then a board and batten trim might fit better.

The trim decision is impacted by your furnishings layout. Here's your bedroom with some furnishings, and then examples of bedrooms that have windows on the bed wall and how those rooms were set up.

Is stuck on moldings the latest Instagram darling? A few years ago it was beadboard!

Spend your money on furniture, window treatments, art, flooring and the space will not be bare.
