L daylilies 2026

last modified: 2 months ago

Today you can share your L daylilies with us.

Late to the Party did reasonably well last season, its third season here. Generally all of my late bloomers did much better than the mid and early bloomers.

Lavender Stardust

Lemon Strawberry Twist shows the pink edges on the petals. This is a tall vigorous plant.

Little Strawberry Shortcake…….the color draws your immediate attention on this small daylily.

Laura Harwood had soooo many buds……too bad the scapes were really short.

Lollipop Kisses

Lovely Miss Laucious….tall and lovely blooms. I wish it was more vigorous.

Luscious Kiss had its best season ever, great bud count for here. I love the color.

What a bunch of pretty ones. Since you get true purple there all of those in that shade are appealing. I really like Lovely Miss Laucious in particular. Lavender Stardust is another pretty one and Luscious Kiss always stands out.

My one L was new last year. Another Hensley in a Wowzer orange/red shade. Will see what it does this year if it survives winter in a pot:

Sherry: I love the color of LITTLE STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE.

I have quite a few daylilies that begin with L:

LIMELIGHT AND LAVENDER: A local MD hybridizer created this one. The petal color is certainly impacted by environmental conditions. At times it is more lavender and other times it is more pink.

    LINES OF WISDOM: Relatively new

LEGENDS OF THE FALL: Nice pink diploid

LONESOME JAGUAR: New last year. Debra's posting of this one encouraged me to add it to the collection.

    LEMON FRINGED PASTEL: A favorite

LIGHT OF THE WORLD: A vigorous grower

LEDGEWOOD'S JUMPSTART: Love the dark eye

LINDA SIERRA: One of my favorites to hybridize with

LAVENDER BLUE PLANET: First year blooming

    LUCKY DEBUT: Vigorous Bennett pink

    LAVENDER FLYTRAP

LINDA GLUCK: Gorgeous bloom, but needs more buds

LUNAR EMPIRE: a standout yellow. I wish the blooms were a little bigger.

LILY AMONG THORNS: alot going on with this one.

LINGERING SPLENDOR: substance is like cardboard

LAVENDER STARDUST: very nice older daylily

LAURA HARWOOD: blooms are just above most of the foliage.

Here are Ls that I photographed at COTTAGE GARDENS. None of these made it home to my garden.

    LONELY AT THE TOP

    LEDGEWOOD'S FONDEST WISH

    LOVE GOD'S WAY

    That is all from me.

Sherry, Lavender Stardust is beautiful. I too really like Laura Harwood but mine is also usually short.

David, Limelight and Lavender is very beautiful! So are Lavender Blue Planet and Lavender Stardust. They have the nice rounded form I enjoy so much. At Cottage Gardens, I really like both Love God's Way and Lonely at the Top. Maryl, I do like the wow color of your flower.

    Labyrinth

    Lake Norman Spider

    Lavender Dew

    Lavender Frost

    Liberty Banner

Sherry - Lollipop Kisses is my favorite of yours. Lemon Strawberry Kiss is neat with those pink edges!

Brad - Labyrinth is one I've always admired.

David - Lavender Blue Planet has lovely colors. Great shot of Lonesome Jaguar! I left Linda Gluck behind and really miss her, even though mine never had many buds either.

Maryl - Libby Gallion burns bright with color. Hope she makes it through the winter!

Lonesome Jaguar - The shade shot tones down the petal color, which is really more of a light orange or buff. It didn't have many buds after the move. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does this year.

Light of the World is an Emmerich that did fairly well when so many of hers didn't scape at all.

Linda Beck - Short last year but floriferous!

Lots of nice ones posted here. I am drawn to Luscious Kiss, Lavender Flytrap and Lily Among Thorns. I also like Libby Gallion.

I am really neglectful of getting clump shots, but here is one of Last Chance for Love.

Here is a closeup of Last Chance for Love. Toothiness and color can vary depending on the weather.

I think Lava Flow will always have a spot in our garden.

I really should get a clump shot of Little Lemon Twist.

    Little Summer Star

    Love for Jesus

We also grow Lonesome Jaguar, Lemon Fringed Pastel, and Luscious Kiss, but I didn't get photos of them last season.

No L's but I have some that got planted last fall and a couple coming this spring. We shall see how they do come spring. Our temps are bouncing and Old Man Winter does not want to leave. Next week temps are suppose to go into the 50's if can believe the weather forecast.

    Nice group of photos posted.

Sherry: I really am drawn to Lemon Strawberry Twist. Very unusal for the pinkish tips.

Debra: Light Of The World was a favorite that I grew before. I tried finding it on Karol's site but no luck. I'll wait and see if it ever shows up on auction.

Brad: You have such lovely lavenders in your garden.

Nancy: Last Chance For Love looks great in a clump. Nice photo of it.

Maryl: Intense color on Libby Gallion

Debra, Lonesome Jaguar is very interesting with both a purple and lavender edging. I always like seeing Linda Beck.

Nancy, Lava Flow always catches my attention with its bright color! I also like Love for Jesus.

Labyrinth I had, but suspect it didn't survive; looks good with Brad. Last Chance for Love looks vigorous. The Ledgewoods I avoid, including Jump Start, which didn't do well here (but survived). It shows, perhaps, what difference snow cover can make. Snow is melting rapidly here now, but the mountainous piles will take a while. Normal high here would be in low forties.

Let the Sea Resound is an Emmerich that is vigorous with good height. Did I mention beautiful?

Davisson's Love Song is a large flower.

Love in a Vacuum is an unusual deep red shade, especially earlier in the morning,

Lovestruck Linda is a reliable Davisson.

Linda Gluck. She can be quite beautiful, but took a while to establish and won't wow in floriferousness.

To me, Gossard's Larry's Twilight Bite is perfection in toothies. Vigorous and productive.

Dan White's Lavender Green Eyed Lady is an earlier bloomer.

    Love 'n Loujean

Lacy Reinke is a striking bicolor (to my eye).

Latin Satin gains attention in the garden and is vigorous.

    Luminous Tabernacles from Hanson.

Carpenter's Lemon Lime Radiance is a large and shapely flower.

Emmerich's Let Justice Roll Down took a couple of years to achieve height. Flower form is not for those who like the extreme rounded.

Hanson's Laguna Brava has decent height.

    His Lavender Blue Planet.

And here is Hanson's Logically Implied. Can be quite shimmering, which this 2025 picture doesn't capture.

Love Sculpture often is close to 5 inches rather than registered 6. (Hanson)

Light of the World is a fairly vigorous older Emmerich whose reliability is welcome.

Lonesome Jaguar, an evergreen, does fine here, but could stand a few more inches. Earlier blooming.

Linda Beck was not as good as the previous year, but was not splotchy (in general, it was a bad year for splotchiness, perhaps because of the greater humidity).

Late to the Party is a striking color that blooms later and is fairly short,

La Dolce Vita is a colorful Moldovan.

Mantis, Laguna Brava is always beautiful; enjoy seeing your pictures of it. Lavender Green Eyed Lady is probably my second favorite of yours. Late to the party is indeed striking! I also love the color of Love in a Vacuum.

My last catch up letter!! Wow! There are so many in this bunch that are so pretty. Laguna Brava, Let the Sea Resound, Late to the Party, Let Justice Roll Down, Lavender Dew and Lovely Miss Lauciius are really eye catching.

    Ledgewoods Pansy Eye

    Laura Harwood

Late Starter probably looked the best it ever has due to continued summer rains

    Loving You is Easy

Lonesome Jaguar-others’ clump shots highlight this one better

    Last Snowflake

Looks Like Christmas is usually splotchy

Lillian’s White Lies does not look very white in this photo

Lady Dragon. I love this bloom

    Lady Dragon in clump

    Lavender Pinwheel

    Lovestruck Linda

Lydia’s Regal Robe-love the dark color

    Love Spills Over

    Lady Jane Pearcy

    Love Is an Ocean

    Lillian’s Thin Ice

Lake Tear of the Clouds-I love this photo because it shows a yearly event in this bed next to a large hay field. An early grass seeds and wind blows these long filaments all over this bed. The entire large bed often looks covered in spider webs in the morning

    Larry’s Obsession
