kitchen island chairs

I have:
white upper cabinets
wood /cinnamon stained lower cabinets
white oak stained hardwood floor
Gold faucet and pull handles on all door and drawers.
SKIRTING STILL NEEDS TO BE ADDED TO ISKAND.

Question, what color wood or metal and seat material goes best given the colors I’m working with already?

What colors are in the room adjacent? I plove my fully unholstered, swivel stools. Mine are linen so they will blend with whatever colors I have around them.

Hi @ arcy_gw I have open concept and everything is neutral light with BM pale oak walls gold modern simple line lights/ceiling lights, west elm brand. Nothing is visually heavy or has a lot of color-all monochromatic. Only “color” would be the base cabinets

The base cabinets are not actually a color . You need some color, do you have art ? I love kitchen stools in a color . This was my old kitchen IMO they added sometihng to an otherwise pretty boring space , I even added the wall accent I loved them so much. If you have no art get some then pick a color from it

Is there any chance of posting a better photo? Pretty hard to make out much since the photo is cut off.

assuming from what I see..... this island is to function for your day to day equivalent of table seating..that means 5-6 stools. I would go the plexiglass clear route to avoid a busy crammed look. It will be busy enough w humans situated there in a good number. Use textured shades /patterned window treatments if you desire interest and more of a statement backsplash when you get to that....... I would keep the island area streamlined as much as possible..a pendant fixture might be the best option for detail .

You don't want color, that's fairly obvious?

Will there be lighting above the island? Care to show the adjacent room of "open concept"?

can we be rid of this design mantra ,"open concept" ? : )

Wood stain, goes with anything but more wood.... especially cinnamon.

All Wayfair below untl you show more, to get more...

Is that top installed with enough support?

What happens when your 150 lb kid/teenager pops themselves up on that unsupported corner?

I would wait until the whole room is finished, backsplash paint etc Pick stools based on final look of the room.
Good luck and please come back with pictures

I can see a complementary wood tone, but there are many considerations only you can decide on: width (based on how many are being used), full vs short backs, stools, swivel, fabric/leather, functionality for young kids.

Jan, that's why I said kid/teenager ... they do the most unexpected things!

Hello, I ended up just getting covers for my existing chairs for now as expenses are getting $$$.
so now I’m on to window treatments. Thoughts?

What is your goal for window treatments? Privacy? Light control, just to add some interest?

I’m think they look bare as is and I do want an elevated/sophistication that can also provide privacy at night

For window treatments, I’d suggest keeping things fairly simple and warm so they don’t compete with all the finishes you already have. Woven shades or a light neutral fabric (linen or a soft textured weave) would look great with the white upper cabinets, wood tones, and gold hardware. You can always layer panels later if you want more softness or drama.

For privacy either a cellular shade or a roller shade that you can pull up or down as needed. Then add something over it, like a Roman shade or a cornice or valance. The options for fabrics on these types of treatments are huge, especially if you are having them custom made. Or you can just add texture with natural Roman shades. Try Horizons for a great selection.

I recently did a cornice with a roller shade underneath for a client.

Thank you everyone. I have a good idea on window treatments and stools that I’d like to do later on. Last question…I promise. I am having a tough time with wall decor…or do I install a coffee station? The depth is 14” upon entering the kitchen then 8 tall by 8 wide.here is the wall and here is the style of the kitchen THANK you my professionals!

I don’t love a coffee station across the room from the sink (unless it’s built in) so I’d say skip - instead I’d say find a big piece of art you love - or a collection of vintage plates would be fun - pretty kitchen!
