Advice for Prayer/Maranta plant

last modified: 2 months ago

Hi everyone. I have a Prayer/Maranta plant that's about a year old. It had been doing well, but is starting to look less 'full'...a bit leggy.. Specifically, there has been no new growth coming from the crown of the plant. Any new growth has only been appearing on already-existing stems.
Since I have less experience with this tyoe of plant, I'm hesitant to cut back one of the existing long stems, down to a few inches from the base of the stem (and since there are currently only three stems), in order to try and promote new growth from the crown.
What do you all recommend? As you can see in pix (under Comment, below. For some reason I never get the 'add photo' option, as part of my original posts here in Gardenweb/Houzz...). .the center of the planter looks very bare. I want to stimulate more new stems, coming from the crown.
Thank you!
