Flooring Design Dilemma

Replace carpeting, wood or LVP?

My husband would like to replace the carpet on the stairs, hall and bedrooms upstairs. We have pets and I am not a fan of carpeting. It looks like wood under the carpet on the stairs My idea is to put carpet treads on stairs. The dilemma is, if wood is too costly for the hall and bedrooms, should i see if there’s LVP that closely matches my wood floor downstairs?

once you remove the carpet on the stairs, you still need to refinish them to look nice.

Up stairs/2nd level flooring does not have to match first floor.

Why not remove the stair carpet, refinish and add a runner to modernize the first floor look?

Your second floor need not match first, and there are engineered /prefinished or not, that will come very close to first floor. I would avoid the LVP if possible.

Not really a fan of carpet treads.... a very forgiving runner. much nicer. JMO
