exterior paint color help?

I just had a new front door, storm door and sidelights installed. The color ended up being much lighter than the swatch.. which was quite small. Anyway.. too late and it's a wonderful upgrade that was desperately needed. I won't paint it as it's brand new. However, I do need to paint the dark brown wood on each side, the pillars and shutters. I would LOVE any ideas to help add to the curb appeal. I also have a rocking chair that will go on the porch that will be painted. A rug and possible wreath as well. I was thinking a darker brown.. almost black. Or even green? I would be so grateful for help as I'm really kicking myself for not taking more time with the door color. Although I do love a neutral palette!

    Another photo..

It doesn’t look as though there is room for a rocking chair on the porch.

The shutters and trim seem to have a reddish, chocolate-y cast which is not playing well with your brick nor the roof. Could you possibly match the shutters to the roof?

The front door could be green.

edited to add: I re-read your post and see you don’t want to paint the new door. If that’s the case, I’d paint the trim around the door the same color as the door.

Rocking chair fits.. it's not a big one. I could definitely tie the roof into the shutter color.. blackish gray?

Your house would look much better if you replaced the shutters with ones that are installed correctly and look operational. Fake shutters provide no dimension and look cheap (not a slam - MANY houses have these fake shutters). They also need to be sized correctly = the two shutters will cover the windows (not smaller and not larger). Also, you need to remove the shutters by the double window - unless you purchase stacked shutters that look like they will cover the entire double window.

You also might think about removing the shutters completely + having extra trim added around the windows.

    If you keep shutters -

Sage green works well with red brick + gray roof:

I would love to get rid of the shutters and beef up the trim. However with a 30 year old house my concern would be the siding is a different shade of beige under them. I'm not opposed to new ones but wouldn't know where to start. I got an estimate for new siding and it was astronomical.

Seeing an image of the entire house would be helpful.

I'd paint the brown the same as your trim.

That is so helpful! Here's a pic of the whole house..

I would paint the door. From the photo it looks like a new primed door waiting for paint. Of course, it might look better in person.

The door and sidelights are painted. It's a sandstone color. Taupe like.. it's not photographing very well. I get a lot of sun in the front which is the thing I didn't take into consideration. Trust me.. I'm kicking myself.

This is the color. it's called Clay. If I painted the door darker than the storm door would be more noticeable. I wanted them the same color.. maybe it would look fine?

I think the door color is a nice new fresh update to your house. I would do like PPF shows and paint the trim and shutters in a smiliar tone.

I never looked at it that way and now I'm not so sure how I didn't! I completely support painting the gable trim, columns and pillars. Now to pick a paint color! You've all been so helpful. I have officially taken a step back from the ledge. :)

One last pic.. garage doors on side of house. The front door is pretty much the same color just different lighting. This dark brown paint will also be done with whatever color I pick for the front.
