Yes here are a few more photo's of the room.
1st one is a small wall right of entry door
2nd one is long wall left of entry door (originally where bed WAS)
3rd one is rest of long wall left of entry door (originally where bed WAS)
4th one is opposite long wall, (where bed is NOW)

Looking at your floor plan and pictures it seems to me that your bed should be centered on the big wall. There would be room for two night stands that way. Then you might have room for a smaller chair in the corner with a table and lamp. Maybe room for that bench just inside the door where the bed is now.

When I originally had it on the large wall, comments were definitely other wall.
So confusing - ugh.

I know - the floor plan and additional pictures made your setup more clear to me. It will be interesting to see if others change their mind. Looking at your pics again, I would say you would have room for either the chair in the corner or the bench on the wall, but probably not both.

So something like this?
The only extra room I see now is to the left at the end of the bed.
Not sure how much would fit there.

Yes there is room to the left at the end of the bed. You could put a smaller, but comfy chair there in the corner. Perhaps a small table beside it. Would a low bench look good under the window?

I am not good at attaching pictures, but I think you are on the right track with this arrangement.

I would move the bed just a little more towards the window just so the entry isn't crowded.

I agree with the latest arrangement with the bed on the long wall and a little closer to the window if it doesn't look strange under the fan. A chair in the corner opposite the bed and a bench under the window or even just a folding luggage rack or two that would fit there when needed. This is a nice size room and bigger than the original pictures made it look.

old rule of thumb is to stand in doorway and pick the largest wall furtherest from the door and that is where bed should be-----I have usually found this is the best. Could you do away with the fan?

Also; should I still lose the bed frame? I think it would be competing less with ceiling light.

Rules don't always work. I think your bed will be too crowded on the smaller wall. The additional pictures have made it easier to visualize the room. Why not use the bigger wall and have two night tables for your guests and that cozy corner for a chair?

Whatever you decide, your guests will have a lovely space when they visit. Sorry to add to the confusion. Do what makes you happy. In the end, it's your home.

You could get rid of the bed frame. A simple headboard with frame would make the room seem larger and less busy.

I think the wood of the bedframe looks so lovely with the paint color, and it matches the dresser. It would look very rich with cream or white bedding and so many different pillows. You probably have some in house. Placement is so tough! If it's on the long wall, visually you kind of stumble upon it when you enter the room. Looks great on the shorter wall, but then you are left with mainly traffic area. Excited to see the finished product.

Which wall do you suggest?
I know you mentioned opposite, but it's been on 3 different walls.

I disassembled the bed frame today & took it out of room.

Can you push it further away from the window? At least 4 feet... maybe centering it above the fan/ light fixture.
Also add the head-board for sure. A short foot-board post would appear less dominating Definitely adds elegance to the room.

What to do & where to put the darn thing!?!

Roxann- sorry was not on internet yesterday- I just now saw you drawing of floor plan and these are just my thoughts and preferences. Your bed is beautiful so I would not replace it unless you just want to. What I don't like with the bed on the large wall is that when you walk into bedroom-you walk right into the bed. With bed on the other wall it opens up your room and pretty bedding will show up much more. Sad to say- but I have done this all my life- just try both- take a pic- sit back and look. Will try to find a pic of my bed which is similar to yours and I had the same issues---I have just enough room for two night stands---one matches the bed- the other is smaller and actually an antique record cabinet but worked great. Good luck to you-I know its hard to choose when you get so much feedback-LOL

I've already taken down the bed frame & will probably sell or pass it down in the family.
Was wondering if you had any inspirational photos you want to share.
I kind of want to pick up pieces for this room, by antiquing or consignments, but would like to get new bedding, curtains, lamps & wall art.
I want to pick pieces for each space & not sure which pieces of furniture to pick; bench, dresser, night stand, chair, book shelf, desk.
Things of that nature.

I like that setup, but maybe possible headboard later if I find just the right something after the room is together.

I would def decide on what you go do with bed first-headboard or not etc. I love the linen fabric covered ones with nailhead trim---this will let you know what size-height of night stands. Do you like mirrored furniture?

One more thing-someone wrote you needed 4 feet of wall space between bed and window----I have 4 bedrooms in house and there is not 4 feet space on any of them---Now if you live in a mansion I guess its different-LOL

It's those darn rules again. Sometimes they just don't or can't apply!

bed on the long wall - your first photos were deceptive - seemed like you were taking them from the entry but once you posted the floor plan it was clear you had taken them from the bathroom door.

Bed looks nice when you see it from the entry door, and it makes more sense on the long wall so that you can use nightstands on both sides.

Keep the frame if you like it - just keep the rest of the room very spare.

I've decided to order a new headboard.
This color is parchment.
What does everyone think, should I order it (& in this color)?again my walls are SW 6143 Basket Beige.

For optimal secure and sound sleep the bed should be on the wall that is opposite the entry door to the room if that wall will accommodate it .
