Lower elevation Blue Ridge here. Not much in the way of snow but last Thursday night, only 3 days ago, my book group met outside! This morning it's 20 degrees. I. Do. Not Miss. The Constant. Shoveling.

@DLM2000-GW I know! I cleaned the screened porch and put out the cushions in the gazebo and we had lunch outside in the Spring warmth. sigh… I was kidding myself 😳

DLM, come back to the old hometown. A dusting of snow Saturday night that vanished by 10 Sunday morning. Very anemic winter here this year.

No snow here in central Georgia but our current temp is 31 degrees with a feels like of 18 because of the stiff winds. 🥶❄️🧊💨

Exactly the same here, Kswl. Nevertheless, it will be back in the 70s by this weekend.

Hard to say with the drifts in NYC suburbs, but it could be around 2 feet. I just wish it would stop.

We are on the western edge of the storm here in South Central PA .. I havent measured but it looks to be about 3". Really, just enough to be annoying. It is pretty out the back but out the front, it has already melted or been blown off the trees.

Our temps are above freezing and rising to high 40s mid week and then again on the weekend so I expect we will have a few days of slush and then it will all melt away.

Hope everyone with the larger snows stay safe and warm -- it is a great time to curl up with a book, a puzzle or netflix-- whatever makes you happy :)

Snow has finally stopped.

I love the flamingometer but I sure don't miss that white stuff. I especially disliked it at this time of year after we'd had a couple days of warmer weather/melting and then whammo - more snow. And in MN it wasn't likely to be completely gone until April. It's chilly here in SC today - 30s and windy but beautifully sunny.

When we lived in the northeast, one year we got flurries close to the end of May. I remember vividly, because we had our kid's birthday party planned that day with pony rides! We still had the pony rides, with everyone wearing their winter jackets in late May!

We moved with a 2 yr old and a 10 month old in May 1977 from Chapel Hill NC to SLC UT. My Dad said ” DONOT take Old 40 out of Denver over the mountains . Huh… it is May Dad. Well I drove for hours behind a snowplow. Everything was a whiteout. We actually came to a diner/ motel that was open. We ordered food , the kiddos fell asleep and the owners put us up in spare bedrooms.

They don’t make trips like that anymore. c

Many decades ago, during April vacation week, we took our boys to Dis-neyworld. While we were gone, a big snowstorm hit Massachusetts with heavy wet stuff. In mid-April!

When we got home, one of the huge 100+ year old copper beech trees along the drive had been toppled and lay across the lawn, having just missed the house by inches. !!

The Blizzard of 2026 has given us about 20 inches of new snow, howling winds and towns shutdown statewide. Schools called off today and tomorrow. Fun times...

Like others said, no snow but it's super cold and windy after being 80 the other day. Crazy. I don't think it got out of the 30's today.

I love a good old-fashioned snowstorm, and I think of all the kids who are excited about a snow day. But there are so many people who suffer through this type of weather, and I hope they find their resources.

The northern-most city I've lived in is Milwaukee, and I lived near the lake with lake-effect snow. After a horrendous winter sometime in the mid-90s, when I had nowhere else to place the snow I had to shovel each morning to get my car out, I held up my white flag of surrender around April. Surely, the snow was done. A friend just laughed and said we'd get snow in May. And, yes, we did.

I like seeing snow photos. An occasional year with flurries and a little accumulation is nice, but do not ever ask me to live anywhere snow is guaranteed each winter.

When our children were little, the "Storm of the Century," also called The Blizzard of '93, included central AL. Just over a foot of snow. Our non-bearing plum trees were in full bloom. I stayed out sledding with our youngest for hours. We lost power for a week, but had FP to stay warm and semi-cook on. Got a whole house generator installed not long afterwards.

The girls and I were at our house in CO one summer and we had snow flurries in July.

So lucky here in Western PA (Pittsburgh). The noreaster missed us—we only received an inch or two. Two weeks ago was a different story when we had 14”. The weekend should bring some warm temps so I am not shoveling!

If you want to see unbelievable snow pictures, google "blizzard of 1888 manhattan." It was one of the two massive blizzards that year. The other, known as the schoolchildren's blizzard, is one of the great tragedies in American history--it hit just as the little one room school houses across the high plains were letting children out. The day had begun quite warm--almost 300 children never made it home.

@Allison0704 I remember that one. Auburn got 5”. Our daughter was 11 and she and her friends had a great time.

At least 2ft here, hours of shoveling. The snow from the plow was almost mailbox height. Thankfully our neighbor took care of that with his snowblower!

19 inches here in central NJ.

Unfortunately, 2 of my pine trees that line the driveway that goes to the back of the house where the garage doors are fell over (see last picture). I was concerned the tree people wouldn't be able to come for weeks. We can't get our cars out since the driveway is blocked by the trees. DH sent pic to our plow guy to let him know he won't be able to plow to the back. He called to say he has a chainsaw and can cut it up for us.

He came this morning and plowed the front of the house. Is going to come back tomorrow with chainsaw. Thankfully we don't have to go anywhere.

Hard to tell with all the drifting, but I'm guessing and have seen reports for our town of 20". And yes, I shoveled that by hand -- twice! Yesterday afternoon, an avalanche of snow slid off our solar panels and completely filled the path again.

And it's snowing again today!

Snow again this morning These pics are from Monday.

We had the ” big one” on Jan 25-26. We were in Bethlehem PA snowed in at an Airbnb. We got home to this mess! The city plows pushed the snow up onto the sidewalks and then posted their edict - “ you have 12hrs to get it cleared. ha….( that isn’t really what I said”. 😡.

We got home just before dark on the 26th and freezing rain was just starting. By Tuesday morning everything was an iceberg. I got out my largest mattock and managed to clear a path the width of my two boots so we could get from the car ( parked way out in the street thank you snow plows) to the walk and steps. I refused to do the big part that had the city snowplow snow on it. The only reason part of the walkway was even doable is the neighbors cars blocked the snow being pushed over. They couldn’t use their cars for days!

See the path on the upper right? That extended down past those huge clumps after I was finished.

You can see neighbors were able and willing to clear because they got out before the icy rain.

DH went down to check on our beach house. We have had this house for about 17 years and have never seen more than a few inches of snow.

Wow! It's incredible the difference East and West right now. We had some rain for a day and it melted all of our snow and now it's getting into the 50s. The temps feel nice, but we need the now in UT for drinking water (and farm irrigation, etc) so it's worrisome. Hope all of you are safe and cozy and having fun with the snow.
