Paint large samples of the paint on a board or on the siding. Make sure you do at least 3 coats. Then look at it in all lights. I would never paint a house without a large sample to ensure I like the color. All paint stores will sell samples and they're not that expensive. You could try a few paint colors and certainly a cooler gray, like Lazy Gray.

That said, gray is a bit common, IMO. You could try a light yellow. It would update the house, but be a smaller change.

Here we are! I like SW Useful Gray, look very good.

You have a Garrison Colonial style home. Usually, you would see it with shutters, but never, ever, vinyl, nailed to the side of the house. However, your windows don't have generous headers, so I would leave shutters off.

Thinking B.M. Classic Gray for siding and all trim.

Thank you everyone for your help! I painted a sample board and feel better about the useful gray. we lookednat it in different areas of the home. we are doing trim in Snowbound instead of alabaster which helps alot. we have alot of houses in our neighborhood in BM Classic gray so wanted to do something different. the current yellow siding is new siding thay has noot been painted yet. i will post an after picture. thanks again!

Here is our finished project. We love it! the door, however looks a little small. should we paint the side panels the same as the door. the door is iron ore and the shutters are web gray. Should we paint the door Web gray?
