Fully armed honeylocust

Good thing most of the planted honeylocusts don't look like this one. A seed-grown one I gave my brother has developed a few blood-red, 3-4 inch thorns on the stems that weather to gray after a few years. Theory is that the thorns were to ward off herbivores like the giant sloth or mammoths. Would work on squirrels too, at least climbing the trunk.
