I'd do a warm white.

I'm showing a warm white for the walls and ceiling. Also paint the wood moulding in the same colour (matte for the walls & ceiling, satin for the trim). Paint the vent the same colour as the wood. I suggest a wicker waste basket and upgrade your toilet paper holder with storage. Find a large framed art you love and hang it on the wall (back wall or wall facing the toilet).

Ditto on warm white paint that isn't yellow based, paint the wood trim too.

How about something bolder like a deep mossy green to pull out the natural river stones in the border? I always like a dark, moody 1/2 bath. It give you the opportunity to be more creative and bolder because it's such a small space.

I would go a bit bolder than white. Maybe a lighter shade of the blue, that I see by another doorway in your picture.

Thank you all for your help! Sigrid, Lisedv, and Kendrah, I agree with the warm white. I already bought some paint samples, but it still feels a bit "meh" to me and lacking in character. I wish the previous owners had not painted over the wood or used gray floor tiles, but what's done is done.

Cat, the walls doorway is actually white, but it looks super blue for some reason in the photo I sent.

What do you folks think about something like SW Soft fern on the wainscoting and off-white on the top portion?

Apple_pie - Your orchid comment made me laugh. Guilty as charged :) I just wanted a little green in there to add some color to this dull room...

Not sure what the wainscoting is made of - I think it's strips.

Definitely paint the wainscot if it's paintable. The dark gray on the floor going up the walls is what's bringing the room down. I wouldn't worry too much about choosing the wrong color. This isn't a big room, so if you feel your first choice is a misfire you can repaint. In order to choose with more confidence you need larger samples than chips. Look at Samplize samples or paint a small board you can hold up against the floor, etc.

If you are really craving green in here, I'd paint the upper walls, ceiling trim, and ceiling green.

The stone band creates such a stripe around the room and you want to take care to not chop the room up into even more stripes and color blocking. For this reason, I appreciate that the floor and wainscoting are nearly the same color. I think it is going to look too choppy with grey floor, green wainscoting, stone band, and white above the stone. It's a lot of look in a small room.

Id leave the gray as well and lean into the organic with a gray/green for the walls and trim. Maybe SW Haven or Great Green. Then an organic modern print on the wall.

Bring in a stone color for hand towels and accessories.

To keep cost down, keep the wainscoting and floor. Do a dark wallpaper (love this one) and change hardware to brass, to add warmth to the grays.

The ceiling molding, either remove or paint it ceiling color.

Warm white including all the trim and wainscoting. remove wallpaper border. all those different finishes dont look great in a small room. consistency and cohesion is what this needs.

Keep it light and bright - otherwise it's depressing.

I think its essential to change the toilet out to a new skirted style, elongated, to match the pedestal sink style.

Place the towel ring to the LEFT of the sink, not over the toilet. Since the room is so very small I'd work to simplify the appearance of the room. Limit all accessories.

Along with the other ideas, I would get toilet surround storage so the eye has a substantial focal point with visual weight to it.

I like the solid sides of this piece to help hide the tank. Available in white or gray on Amazon.
