Sherry..so true that a garden is never finished..

as for advice..I don't clean up the beds in the fall..I haven't noticed any problems leaving fall debris..but I've read you could be giving rodents a winter home..I'm blessed not to have voles..

Some of us have had success but if you can avoid planting under trees... The tree canopy and roots take all the water. The tree roots strangle plant roots and the plants will suffer.

Laurie I understand about planting under trees, I learned the hard way🤬

What works for me is smaller rooted plants with the shade. Epimedium and heuchera are my go to.

Ann, I dont clean up fall debris either. 25+ years and no problem so far.

Here is my advice:

For southern growers: try to buy local plants. I have found that the weather confuses a northern grown hosta. And they do not really come back each year.

Water under the leaves when growing in pots. The umbrella of leaves can lead water where it does not need to go.

Thank your plant at the end of the year and praise the flowers when in bloom.

Number your pots. I am going to try this and maybe I will know who they are. I just have to see your number.

Take better photos than I did.

Do not take g-nephew for the summer. Ever again. As much as I love him, he is a handful.

Remember this: Above all 2 hostas never make a right, but three do.

Not sure I have too much to add, except never believe “Sun Tolerant” means LOTS of Sun. For example, August Moon is listed as Sun tolerant (potential for fun Sun) and it burned everywhere I moved it. It is now in shade and doing fine.

I don't really have any advice , I can't even seem to follow what I know to be right.

I do like the phone thing and the mileage. I had a similar moment while on a motorcycle trip, somewhere in the Southwest.
