Anyone heard from Chris (ctopher_mi) from the old Hallson's?

Was thinking about him and Hallson's today, wondering if he's kept in touch with anyone or maybe is lurking around here somewhere and I'm not aware of it. I have nice memories of visiting Hallson's and of him and his partner, and of course some terrific plants. I'll never forget how I was looking for a tall Solomon's Seal and they didn't have any, and a short while later when I was leaving Brian re-appeared out of somewhere with a freshly dug one one and gifted it to me. I presume he dug it from their own personal garden, although I'm not really sure -- but what a kind gesture. I still have it growing happily in the shade garden. I wonder if they're still living in Ireland.

Can’t help withthe question about Chris, but wanted to say: Aren’t gardeners just the best, most generous people? I have a similar memory from Wade and Gatton. My mom saw a daylily in their display garden called Bittersweet Holiday, but they didnt have it in stock. By the time we finished out tour and brought our plants up to check out, they had taken a few fans off their display and potted it for her. She had mentioned how my Dad had passed around the July 4 holiday and that’s all they needed to hear.

He and his husband moved to Ireland right after they closed the nursery! They are doing great but he is definitely missed!

FWIW, I tried almost a year ago to message him through his old forum and there's something amiss with its messaging system as the message is still sitting in the outbox and I tried sending it May 25th last year... oh well, too bad...

Chris would contribute in the Hosta Diseases Facebook group from time to time. It looks like the last time he participated there was 2021 (I thought it had been more recent than that). He still has an active Facebook account with his last public post being a year ago, but he may still be posting privately. I miss his valuable and kind input here!
