We have grey peel throughout our home. On our main floor we have sun filtering roll down shades tust are a kind of linen colour. In our bedrooms it varies. One of my kids has teal blackout shades, the other two super dark grey, and we have a cream colour. Grey owl is very easy to work with so a lot depend on what else is in the room

Grey Owl is a very versatile color.

Think big picture…furniture, flooring, accessories; what will be more complementary. What effect do you want…prominent or blending in. Personally, I’m a fan of the room’s components drawing the eye vs the drapes so have always used warm whites and ivory. Keep in mind a neutral is more adaptable if changing the accessories and/or paint color down the road. Suggest looking on line to help you decide.

Thank you! I think I’d like to have a fairly neutral background. I change our decor seasonally and sparingly-just accent accessories, throw pillows and blankets. Our trim and ceiling is snowbound. Our rug has shades of blue. We have a dark, leather chair, a black chalk-.painted rocking chair and our couch is ivory. We have a dark stained secretary too that is filled with my chinoiserie collection. Our lighting fixtures are polished silver. I’m drawn to blues; I’d love to make a navy ticking work. I’m not averse to changing the drapery to velvet or something during the cold weather months. I’ve considered a tone on tone damask too. What would you do if this were your house?

annie, if you posted a pic of the actual room, you'd get more help. paint color looks diff in dif lighting, and of course your furnishings play a huge role in choosing color for drapes.

Sounds like you are not afraid of mixing. Given your description of an ivory couch, your love of blue (contained in rug and chinoiserie collection), eclectic furniture choices and your paint colors, I think the blue ticking might work, but your pictures would really help.

Cozier/richer drapes would be nice in winter, as you mentioned you like changing up. Suggest adding coordinated cushion covers.
