lol Our male cat is the supervisor on ”dooty” and quite vocal if we don’t comply when requested. He also makes sure his sister’s litterbox is clean at all times as well. Thankfully he is off his shift between the hours of 11pm-6am. We are well trained, aren’t we!

I love how smart they can be.

Would it be worth it to get one of those expensive automatic self cleaning litterboxes?

We have two cats and three litter boxes. Every morning when I get up to scoop them, our male cat will wait until I am done, then walk into the box and pee. He pees just a bit in each box so he can hit at least two of the three. Cats are weird.

She's 13, albeit a very healthy 13 so I am not sure she would like a different litter box.

When she started doing this I got one that had a higher barrier that could be attached around three sides but she had problems with that, so we went back to the old one.

Not only is my cat vocal, but I can tell when she's used the box (esp. #2) because she immediately gets the zoomies and runs through the house.

The box is on a vinyl tiled floor in the bathroom. There's always some scattered litter to sweep up plus unlike advertised the litter causes a lot of dust.

I saw an ad for a fancy litter box that has facial recognition! Maybe it was an April Fools joke?

We had a different way to tell the cat had used her box - we used to joke about it being dark matter - like Nibbler's in Futurama - and her box was out in our attached garage(!)

Photos here can get weird on some devices or browsers. I come here on 3 different devices, and have noticed photos sometimes get weirdly cropped.

My DDIL seems to have inherited her Mother's cat. She's very sweet and also very old and deaf. They keep the litter box in the bathroom off the family room and DS and the kids complain that the litter smells, even when fresh. She now keeps the exhaust fan and tried a different litter. Big mistake - Izzie stopped using the box and did her business on the throw rug or random other places in the house. DDIL had no idea that cats cared about their litter. She went back to the previous brand and the cat now appears happy.

We acquired 2 stray cats when we first moved to Philly and they apparently were easy to please. They didn't care about the litter and ate any cat food we offered them. I naively thought all cats were like that.

Thanks, Ally - I see her now! I've only had 2 cats and never experienced either having any reaction to litter box cleaning or not in any noticeable way. Your cats who care are a hoot!
