Is the area full shade or part-shade?

Hosta, ferns, solomon seal, and bleeding heart will do very well in full shaded wet areas. As for pollinators, I'm not as sure.

Thank you, all. It's quite shady, but gets some sun, mostly indirect as there is a break in tree canopy due to the drive. I would say a step between full shade and part-shade.

How would one identify invasive species? My plan is to stick to the species listed in this reference: https://www.washtenaw.org/DocumentCenter/View/1993

That list looks very similar to the native species sold by the Kent Conservation district over here in the west. I would imagine that that's where the water resource commission gets its list. I don't see anything that concerns me....but every time I see something new in my yard a Google image search tells me I have a new problem. 😏

I would just suggest a quick Google search of any species you're thinking about.

And some plants that aren't officially invasive can be problematic. A wider search can help you find those. One of my particular nemises is golden/yellow archangel. Michigan doesn't have it listed as invasive yet, but Minnesota does, so I got some fighting tips there.
