I would :

1.pull your current wallpaper. The scale is too busy for the space.

2. Paint your wainscoting a medium tone Olive green that compliments your fireplace tile but is richer in tone

3. wallpaper all the walls in a natural grasscloth or sisal

4. replace you lights with something more substantial

5. axe the bench but bring in a console table in the wood tone.

6. two cube ottomans unde the console that can be pulled out for a seat and can also be moved to other rooms for extra seating when entertaining

7. large piece of art above console that incorporates the colors found through out your rooms

8. a lamp for ambient lighting that can be left on when needed

9 some greenery thats is up and off the floor so your eye is drawn up and out instead of down

10. new rug that incorporates the colors found through your rooms

you may want to consider painting the door the same color as the wainscoting too

Is the closet door in the foyer a closet? If yes, consider moving the coats and shoes from the foyer and into the closet. Then remove the coat pegs.

Removing the wallpaper and painting will update the foyer.

A new rug, new plant pot and narrow console with larger mirror/art across from the bench are nice updates too.
