Try draping the fabric samples on the sofa and taking a photo that includes the rug.

The one on the left, the other is to busy and similar to the rug.

If those are th only choices the one on the left. We really need to see the rest of the room. The rug should not be the only consideration

I'd do the one on the left, the one on the right is too similar to the rug. That said, it depends on where you're putting the chairs. If they are right on the rug, as shown, definitely the left. If they are in a nook elsewhere and not on the rug, then the right one.

Maybe you like a very calm, neutral room, but my guess is beige walls, beige rug, beige furniture is just too much beige. But that's me. I'm not fond of beige.

I prefer the right one, but think the print on left works better with the rug. If having doubts and you’re in no rush, maybe wait until you find “the one“.

A solid, textured fabric might be a good choice given the commitment and add a lumbar cushion for interest + cushions on couch to tie everything together.

If you want stripes, consider cushions.

I’m slowly refreshing different rooms in this house and I was trying to achieve a very calm,, peaceful ,serene look for this family room. Here’s a picture of the sofa fabric. With the two fabrics.

Top one is best with the rug, but not so good with the sofa.

Bottom one is not good with the rug, but looks good with the sofa.

I'd also consider how you want the chairs to read in the room as a whole. Does your room need more movement, texture, subtly, complexity? The right fabric can pull a room together with a missing element.

You should hold out for a stripe if that is what you want. There are so many of them, no need to settle.

And remember the color doens't have to match the rug. It just needs to compliment it.

If you are giving us two choices, then the one on the left. The other is too small and too busy. Keep the color of the floors in mind.

I think you need a color on those chairs, and art, and throw pillows, etc.

Where are you getting the fabrics you are showing us? Again we need to see the whole room - not just the fabric draped over the small piece of the sofa. The fabric on a chair will never touch the sofa fabric so that is not the way to choose.

Is this a “forever” rug? From my perspective, picking a pattern for chairs is something that I might want to do independent of a rug. If I want to change the rug- then what? Unless its an heirloom type rug that you expect to keep for a very long time and even then- what if you decide to move it to another room, etc.

The whole idea is: If you are going to have a pattern- make sure you really love the pattern. Or else, pick a color that you love and think you will not likely tire of- and do the chairs in a textured fabric in that color. You can always add the patterns in throw and pillows, etc.

That said: Do not get me wrong... I have no problem with patterned chairs and with mixing patterns. Give me some leopard print upholstered, good quality chairs- I’ll take them. If my rug didn’t work with them, I’d call a cab for the rug.

But the thing about leopard print chairs such as that- you could put them with almost any rug. Not the case with many patterned chairs.

The chairs do not need any pattern. ........and they certainly do not beg a stripe.

"I want a calm and peaceful room".....but you are selecting fabrics in a manner that suggests a couple decades ago tried and true, replacing bolder more traditional "true color" with patterns.

Neutral rooms are some of the most difficult to pull off successfully, because despite the idea that "neutral goes with anything and everything, , it's a bit of a lie. Especially when the tones are very close.

Do you ever wonder why, when you click an image of a beautiful neutral room, so MANY of the sofas are a shade of white?!

There's a reason for that, The white brightens a room. It adds the necessary contrast/brightener .

Then you add the texture.... and the pattern

It's all the ways you add the tones and textures. Think of rocks, sand, tree trunks at a northern shoreline, Think of metal....the iron of a table leg, or a lamp.

Save the pattern for easy to return, easy to switch out at will items. and focus on a palette.

No stipe for sure and really a nice plain color with texture would be a much better choice . As for the rest I need to see the room to even begin to have any more help. I like a room with some life even when mostly "neutrals " are used and sometimes that is a chair in a color , but no context makes it hard to know what you need. This is also why I choose rugs last
