Why would they crack anymore than anywhere else? I dislike the skinny subway ones they are dated and way too many grout lines for a shower IMHO. Maybe look at largerr tiles for a nice look with matching grout. Like this look

Id prefer large format tiles but cant find large format glass tile, or even high gloss ceramic in my area.

I’ve had glass tiles, mine are much larger, on my kitchen backsplash to the ceiling, so there’s a lot of them. None have ever cracked. Agree, that a larger format tile with less grout lines good in a shower.

I think a much fresher and newer look in a 5 x 5 ceramic/glossy with some variation. !

At the very least go larger glass,, a 4 x 12 below from Tile Bar

The grout lines aren't near as strong as the tiles. That's where one would look for cracks.
