I call that a table runner - nothing old fashioned about it. There a as many options for pattern, color, texture etc as there are decorating styles and people who use them. It's lovely and looks beautiful with your table/chairs (BTW I LOVE that table!)

And…..When in NY I saw the scarf and the background looked very dark somI didn't order the runner thinking it would be the same.

Then.,,,I saw it the runner in the Florida store and it was lighter. Who knows,? Different dye lot or the lighting in the store?

Everything old is new again and that includes table runners!! They are everywhere--have been for a couple of years. Your DH needs to get out more. HA!

I’ve been using a table runner seasonally for years. I finally had to purge some because a spare closet where i hang them was getting too full.

I love yours, @eld6161. Is it from PB? That is where most of mine came from, often on sale. When Pier 1 had an actual store, I would occasionally find one there. And the now-gone SteinMart (like a more upscale TJMaxx) had many.

Table runners have always been around. My mother has a few she changes out seasonally. It looks great on her table and open space. I don't have any runners, but I also have a lot more color/pattern in my dining room and house, so I like to keep the table natural/naked.

Eld, i haven’t bought much, but I’ve been looking at PB a little more lately too. I did purchase one of their linen quilts when i did a mini-refresh of our bedding. Your table is really nice.

I’ve only ordered from PB once, a rug, and they sent me the wrong one. But I liked it a lot better than the one I’d ordered (it wasn’t even on their website or I’d have chosen it in the first place). So it worked out well. :D

I miss Pier One. Both their original import store and the fancy one they morphed into. I also miss the original BBB store. Online is okay, but I miss browsing and touching before I buy.

I miss Pier 1, too. When I was a kid, the stores in our city actually had ”piers” (wooden walkways to the entrance with thick rope handles). It had a cool hippy feel, incense and wicker everywhere. :)

I still have lots of things from there, circa ’70s to early 2000s.

Our local World Market has a similar feel and products, but I preferred Pier 1.

I miss the old Pier One and the later version, too. There was always something ”just right” to buy. We don’t have any World Markets here anymore, I miss them, too, mainly because they had some simmer sauces we liked, that made for an easy dinner on busy days.

I remember when Crate and Barrel really did have crates and barrels to display their goods.

Scandinavian gift shops, brick and mortar as well as online, have really nice runners. But I know my family would find them a bother in the way.

Pottery Barn iis also know for it’s throw pillows. I have the Sonya in my NY house. A sales rep picked it out for me when I showed her my rug. I never wouldhave chosen it myself
