Need backsplash ideas

last month

I am in desperate need of ideas for a backsplash in my new kitchen. We’ve chosen amazing quartzite called Blue Louise that is going to look great with eggshell cabinets for the perimeter and teal cabinets for the island. However, I am struggling to find a backsplash that will complement the quartzite, not compete with it. Could anyone provide an idea?

a photo of the room would help. For me, it depends on the size of the kitchen and how much natural light you have... Not to mention how bold you are.

I would probably choose something simple like a smaller running bond pattern in the same color as your cabinets, and let the bold be the focal point. Like the tile in this image. (I like the hints of burnishing on the edges) Not too slick.

Any windows for natural light? House style? Floor color? What brand is your countertop? Is the countertop the same on the island?

Do you want something dark and dramatic to compliment this countertop?

OR does it look like this?

I finally figured out how to upload photos. Here is an AI rendering that gives the general idea of how the kitchen will look - it’s not perfect, but I think you can get a pretty good feel for it. The photo shows the quartzite, the flooring, and the cabinet colors. The cabinet colors are Eggshell and Oasis from Walzcraft. The kitchen is “L” shaped with the island in the middle. The dining table will be in front of the island, then double French doors with sidelights and a transom. The house is kind of a light, bright Key West vibe.

I get the Key West vibe, but I would paint the walls the same color as the cabinets.

Let the tile and island base cabinets stand out.

The room is under construction and is only framed in at this point.
    Thank you for the ideas!

just something to consider... leave off the 4" curb on the perimeter countertops.

Your backsplash tile will look more professional if it isn't sitting on top of the curb.

and something to keep in mind.

I would paint the walls in the same color as the cabinets in an eggshell finish and then do a painted glass backsplash to match. Let the quartzite be the star of the show.

Wow, that stone is stunning! Are you having drawers in your new cabinets?

Thank you. Yes, lots of drawers in the lower cabinets.

I'd wait until everything is installed before tackling the backsplash

Use the eggshell cabinet color as your wall color and splash tile color. Hopefully you can find a tile that is a very close match. A simple stacked or bond square or rectangle will suffice. No 4" strip of quartzite. Just splash to the counter.

Do either the waterfall edge or your range splash section in quartzite, but not both. Too much of this fun stone in a small space is going to look gaudy. The right amount of it is going to be lovely.
