Living Room Wall Unit

My living room is 18ft long, 13 ft wide, 9ft ceilings. Long wall by the sliding door-wall to sliding door is onyly 10 inches. I have alot of dark kitchen cabinets and an almost white long island. The rooms is tight. I want to add a built in wall unit but do not want it to feel heavy, but classic looking. No fireplace as I live in AZ and it does not get cold here. Not alot of shelves as I am a minimalist and do not like alot sitting around. Style I would say transitional, warm. TV will be in this area and some storage would be beneficial. Any suggestion? One of the photos attached is somethign that I saw and liked. Just do not know how to add it into my space, how to stop and start it. But l like the style. Any ideas for me would be appreciated.

In your inspiration photo, the inset framed walls and stone cladding was probably done when the house was built. Not a look I would copy.

Have you looked through Houzz photos for ideas?

If you don't want a lot of shelves, then it doesn't make sense to do a built-in.

I did a built-in with storage under the 75" Samsung Frame TV and shelves on both side, but I wanted the shelves to display things I have collected/inherited over the years.

your pictures you uploaded are very tiny and cannot be enlarged for an actual view. makes it difficult.

try uploading pics so they are able to be enlarged upon clicking on them.

Your inspo pic has a light sofa, light rug, and the light color focal point.

your dark sofa and dark console, paired w/the dark cabinets bring a heaviness to the room.

(and why is the tv and the pictures all off center?? )

If you like more modern, you can get a vintage console and do the tv and art like this.

    Or, some other ideas

Why spend the money on built-ins if you don't want to display items on shelves? I too am a minimalist and don't display a lot of objects, so I get it.

Why not just purchase base media cabinets and hang the TV above them instead?

What are you looking to store and what kind of depth would it require? Could you purchase two cabinets like the ones in your inspo pic and push them together?

Great idea.... Where would I start to look for base cabinets? This would also give me storage. I definately need to lighten up the room. Thanks for the advise.

You'll want to look for a lower, longer cabinet. Your TV is currently hung a bit too high. The center should be at eye height when you're sitting on the sofa. How wide is your current TV? The cabinet you choose should be about 25% longer than the width of the TV. What's your budget for a new cabinet?

What ever it needs to me....just the right piece since this will be mostly a focus wall. I like the floating cabinet and like the cabinet with the wall paper or something behind the TV. But not sure what I would put there. Thanks for the advise on the height of the TV, agree.

As you can see one chair is a light toupe leather and the other a pattern material pattern but with some toupe in it. What color of couch would you recommend? Does not have to be leather.

    Paint the walls white?

The big issue is the 10" depth to work with so no matter what you choose it will need to be quite shallow. I like Best from Ikea so maybe go see that if you keep the storage part only in the middle of that wall it should work so 12" deep so something like this to keep TV at proper height, give you some storage and all the art to be hung
