Sub Zero Fridge Column Pulls?

last month

Hi there! Where is everyone sourcing longer and heftier pulls for sub zero fridge and freezer columns? The standard 18” doesn’t seem long enough (sub zero’s own pulls are longer), and I’m putting in a 36” refrigerator column. Are folks getting custom pulls? Sticking with 18”? If you have a photo of your column with a pull, I’d greatly appreciate it!

Your SubZero distributor should have a range of pulls available for purchase. My 30-inch pulls for my SZ 632 as well as a scaled-diameter 18-inch pull for my Miele dishwasher panel came from SZ. These also match the Wolf oven pulls and the decorative bars on my Wolf hood. My appliance distributor, Baron's Major Brands, has what I remember to be 6-foot SZ pulls on their Salem, NH, front doors.

In my previous house I did a 24" SZ freezer with a 36" SZ fridge with custom hand forged bronze pulls by: https://www.pruskinhardware.com/

For me, the really long pulls look best in contemporary/sleek kitchens. I prefer shorter ones for more traditional designs.

Note: both units hinged on the left, which worked best for the layout of the kitchen.

I’ve been researching this too, and one thing I’ve noticed is that with Sub-Zero column fridges, the type and size of pulls really make a big difference in usability. Since these doors have a strong seal, smaller or decorative pulls can sometimes feel uncomfortable or even loosen over time.

From what I’ve seen, longer and more solid appliance pulls (or full-length edge pulls) tend to work much better, especially for daily use. They not only look more proportional but also make opening the door easier for everyone in the household.

@Khaus Hans yes agreed! I want the length and heft of the SZ pulls but the SZ options are very limited. I have kids so I want to make sure they can reach the handle and also get a real grip to yank that door open.

@Chispa these are beautiful! Are they longer than the standard 18" pulls?

I think they were 18" on the doors and 10 or 12" on the drawers, but they can be ordered in whatever size you want. I had the stem of the knobs made a bit longer, so even guys with big fingers wouldn't touch the door surface when using the knobs.

Use "appliance" pulls vs standard cabinet pulls, even if they're the same length.

Appliance pulls use heavier/larger screws rated for the weight. Install per mfg specs including large fender washers or similar as specified in order to spread the weight property through the custom cabinet door you just paid a bunch of money for. Small cabinet pull screws without washers can damage wood panels.
