First thing I’d do is bump up the garden, as it will have the biggest overall impact and maybe consider painting the dark wood white, which will lighten up the porch.

The porch is small so keep it simple… consider moving the flag to garage, an address plaque/lighting, and a new planter. Not a lot of room for seating…so test a few.

Cute front porch. The thing that stands out to me is your wood detail is creating a dark void. I would paint it to match your posts. Then you can place some house numers on it that will stand out . Think about not wanting a large weclome sign. You can do this in smaller ways like a pillow that says welcome on the chair or a welcome plaque on a door basket. Brighten up the space with fun rugs and doormats layered. You only have so much room there but enough that you can get a lovely wicker chair on either side of the door for you and company. Once your spring hits clean up your landscaping.

You have a great space, it won't take much to add curb appeal.

I agree that the dark trim should be painted. I'm not sure if anyone has pointed out how the mottled concrete floor and commercial looking bland walkway are impacting the look of the porch. Notice how the AI rendition above cleaned up your porch floor and added stone edging to your walkway.

I'd definitely get a larger indoor outdoor rug to make the concrete floor look more homey, add low evergreen plants in front if it to hide the uninteresting front edge and think about a brick edging or some other treatment on your walkway.

Your last photo shows the Navy door is lost in the shadows, paint it a brighter color. The fresh landscaping is nice in that photo.

I'd start by finding an outdoor area rug to fill the whole space.

Paint the ceiling a light blue, and buy a couple large colorful ceramic flower pots.

You've got a great wall for a large outdoor piece of wallart. I wouldn't lean anything against the house. Get another sturdy chair or bench (for deliveries and friends)

I agree with painting your wood trim. You have a lovely porch. You could then add house numbers across the trim as @Design Interior South suggested. You could also pressure wash and stain your concrete to make it appear more finished. A larger rug with a welcome mat layered over it would be nice. Get two matching planters and put them on either side of the post and fill with colorful annuals.

Thank you Maureen! Great ideas. My flower bed is actually quite lovely… it’s just April in Michigan so not much is currently blooming. Fun idea about painting the wood white! It’s rough cedar, so it would take some work. But it’s a fun idea. I like it!

I woud start by removing that very awkward gable over the entry it does not suit the house

The rustic flower pot/box on the left is not attractive. I know it blends with the timber framing in your porch’s peak, but this would be ever so much prettier. With a small-stature hydrangea inside, even better!

I like the gable Patricia- it’s a big improvement from what was there before, so it stays.

I am okay with getting rid of the rustic flower box, it’s definitely time for it to go.

The gable does look nice. You really stepped up the curb appeal on your house! I do like the idea of painting it white as well and finishing the porch will be the icing on the cake.

The porch gable is a very nice addition, but its peak angle is sharper from than the house gable. Almost Gothic.

I would downplay that with its trim the color from the front shingles. Do not highlight the support beams, keep them the same dark wood tone. Like this:

A couple things, after seeing the entire front of the house I would change the front door color. The current blue you have doesnt work with your stone color. You need more of a blue green.

I do like a lighter door color too! I didn’t realize how hard it was to see the door until I saw it in photos. Thanks to everyone for the inspiration.
