Replacing bathroom vinyl floor w tile!

I need to remove a vinyl floor in the bathroom and put down tile. Subfloor is plywood and probably in fine shape (we'll know for sure once we pull up the vinyl). Anything special i should be planning for or doing to make sure the installation is done right?

Remove the vinyl; most likely, there is underlayment (1/4-3/8") over the subfloor. Remove that also, install Ditra underlayment over the subfloor and new tile, and you will have a solid floor.

Why do you "need" to replace vinyl with tile? Vinyl is both softer and warmer underfoot, better waterproof (as it has no grout), more kind to knees and ankles, and less prone to breaking a dropped item. Why not update the vinyl?

Make certain your flooring system is capable of carrying the weight of the tile, thinset, and all. Considerably heavier than vinyl tile.
