Help deciding exterior craftsman style color

last month

Narrowing down paint colors for my house which is in PNW craftsman style. Stone is not staying, but black roof is. It’s surrounded by greenery and west facing. I’m leaning towards green-gray paint and am down to SW Cornwall Slate and SW Link Gray, but concerned Link Gray will be too heavy. Any recommendations? I definitely don’t want brown or beige (which I know is traditional colors - all my neighbours have brown and tan houses)

Would love a creamy trim - that’s what I’m exploring

I really like the Cornwall Slate, and definitely with a softer white trim. Have you looked at Alabaster?

I like the Cornwall Slate color, and Alabaster for the trim.

Will try alabaster trim for sure. Thanks for feedback - felt like Link Gray was too dark and this confirms

I like the stone on the chimney.

“…felt like Link Gray was too dark…”

It’s darker but test it out with the Cornwall Slate. Colors can look lighter on the exterior.

I find all the accent trim too distracting and hides some of the nice architectural aspects on the gable shingles for instance. These are ChatGPT AI alterations in Cornwall Slate with Alabaster trim . I feel getting rid of a lot of the vertical accent trim helps clean it up and make some of the beautiful accents stand out. Maybe even the gable in alabaster but I could not get ChatGPT to recognize that request. But I feel you get a good feel for what the house could look like cleaned up.

The stone on the chimmey should stay. If you remove it the replacement can't be siding, it would have to be stucco. I don't see that has a position change.

Not seeing much craftsman in that home the best feature is the chinmey IMHO

Who cares if it’s a craftsman or not and no need to degrade the home. It’s theirs, they live in it, offer up painting advice. I too like the stone on the chimney. I like the colour palette you are looking at and agree with a bit less trim standing out on tue garage. Looks like a great home that is well taken care of.

The trim does not feel proportional to or in scale with the house and there is too much of it. Now is your chance to rectify that by painting much of it the same color as the siding. I don't consider the garage doors a pleasant feature so would not highlight them with such a high contrasting color. I'd paint them a smiliar shade as the body of the house, just a few shades lighter.

I like the stone on your chimney. The shrubbery and windows around it are fantastic too.

Agree the chimney stone should stay.

I get Craftsman vibes. Why remove the stone, it looks nice to me. I like the idea to reduce the amount of painted trim.

If you're open to other than gray, I like that SW Green Earth.

    Get Craftsman light fixtures.

Personally I like the brown! I think if you're going to go for green tones, lean more in to sage and less in to grey. Cute house!! https://www.buildersservicecompany.com/how-to-choose-a-siding-color

Thanks all for the comments - the stone is actually a concrete product and failing/ cracked so we need to replace anyway. Still sampling colors but these mock ups are helpful

    Might feel washed out.

    Vs:

    Or a blue/grey/green undertone.

Growing up in the Bay Area with the Berkeley Craftsmans, brown wood siding is the classic.

    Borrowing from Lorraine's rendering...

If you want this effect, I think if you use a wood stain on the siding, I would use a semi-transparent stain and paintbrush, water based to cover the current paint. Same with the garage doors but with a stain/sealer in two coats.

id swap the stone base for wood shingle siding to lean into that craftsman look. are you open to changing the garage doors too? getting them in a warm wood tone would tie right in and warm up the gray-green paint.
