Fisher&Paykel Gas Range Malfunctioning

We purchased a Fisher&Paykel appliance package for a kitchen remodel in 2022. We bought the extended warranty so all is still covered for another year. From the first month, our range has not worked properly. The front dial "ring" lights are intermittent, sometimes remaining on when they should be off. Sometimes some work while others aren't. Also after my first oven cleaning operation the oven displayed an error message and stopped working altogether. We have had appliance repair people out at least 8 times, but nothing gets resolved. Now F&P won't return my calls. This range cost over $8700. Anyone else experiencing this with F&P?

"We purchased a Fisher&Paykel appliance package for a kitchen remodel in 2022................"

First key point, and in full disclosure, I have never used F.P for any appliance, Why do any of the brands offer packages. ( I strongly advise no on these, btw ) Aside from a larger order and profit, the simple answer is appliance category, and most brands "excel" in one function, , and not so much in another. In terms of cooling? Sub Zero owns the class. Cove, or Bosch in dishwasher reliability is accurate.. Range preferences differ with heat selection , induction, gas, electric,,,, But I doubt anyone here puts F.P at the top of the class, though more reliability may be found in their cooling category.

It's a lot late to say I'd never advise a client to spend 8700.00 on an FP cook, but I'd not.

From whom did you purchase is the first question, and it seems online? Not a local source? Wherever and Whomever, that's your go to.You can at least get in the face of a human being. Return calls? HAH!!!

The day and age of return calls is sadly over, even among the very best in their class, They do not, any of them, want contact with John Q Public, and will even resist contact with the distributor who SOLD the appliance. Don't believe it? It's brutal truth.

Was any of this helpful? No, and my apologies for that. Welcome to the new world order. : (

I appreciate your insight. Saddly I am realizing you are right. We bought all our appliances from the main appliance store in Eugene, OR - Kelly's Appliances. Yes, they have a helpful face I am able to talk to but they are washing their hands of the problem since "THEIR" one year warrenty is up. My beef now is with F&P, or possibly even the insurance company they farmed out our warrenty to, whoever that is.

I hate to say it but it may be time to get rid of this appliance and buy something else. You've basically spend about $2,100 per year to use this range. If you can't have it repaired under the warranty, it may not be worth it to throw more money at it. Look into a GE Profile range--they are fairly inexpensive (compared to the F&P) and are reliable.
