I suppose you have been moving things around to try and find a different feel? From your photos it seems everything has gravitated to the wall and runs down to the window. Could the space between the bedroom and bathroom be used as an intimate dining space? A round glass topped table would be useful if used in this way. Or try brining your current table into the kitchen to move it off the wall., this might enable you to bring the workstation away from the window but still be in the more naturally illuminated area of the apartment. Your lounge area could move down that little bit and be a dedicated relax zone.

I like your apartment. I would feel comfortable visiting there. Your efforts show.

I would add a counter height table and two stools near the kitchen to create more workspace while also creating a place for a couple friends to sit while you prepare snacks. But that may not fit your lifestyle.

Check to see if the pictures are too high. Hang so the centers are 152 cm high. I would switch the table and the storage cabinet. But you may not like that. The little refrigerator is spoiling the effect of the lovely storage cabinet by throwing it off center. If you keep the storage cabinet where it is, can you center it on the wall and re-home the little refrigerator, even if on a different wall in that space, perhaps close to the kitchen so it looks less like an orphan? I'd still move the table away from the front door. I wouldn't want to eat so close to the front door.

That will help people respond to your request for help. You said you think something might be missing. What makes you think so? Do you just have a feeling that the space isn't homey? Maybe think of some spaces you like, maybe a family home or friends' home or even a picture. If you share a picture maybe someone can spot what I'd missing in your apartment. Again, I like your apartment pretty much the way it is, but you asked for help. My mother's home always had a certain feel about it I could never nail down. Of course it always felt like live to me. Maybe you're looking for that. Or not...what do I know. 🥴

I don't think the rug is really doing anything for the room. It seems very blah. If you like color, how about looking for a rug with a bolder contemporary design that includes black, white, green and terracotta or other warm color.

May we have measurements of the rooms? That sure would help a lot. Thanks in advance. Cell phones have ways of measuring a room if you don't have a tape measure. A rough draft on a piece of paper works just fine. Best Wishes.

Apologies for the long silence, I have been very busy these last couple of weeks.

From my personal feeling on how the photographed space is right now, it feels like it needs some more vibrant colors and is on the cooler more boring side of things. I have thought of putting some more stuff up on the relatively empty walls, not sure what yet though (aside from a clock). As well as maybe painting the wall or covering it with wallpaper (or perhaps a combination of both). For this I also am not sure which colours will work, and which walls to paint or to wallpaper.

Originally I hoped to bring some colour into the room with the rug, but as pointed out it is not achieving the expected result, the pillows on the couch luckily do. I might replace the rug in the future for this reason.

The ceiling light fixtures are not easy to change due to the relatively soft material being used to create the ceiling. To counter this I have focused on the use of spots as these can create far reaching and bright sources of light. This also helps to provide the dining area with good lighting, even though there is no lamp directly above it.

I have read the suggestions about positioning and will certainly take these into consideration when moving some stuff around. Everything is indeed placed along the wall, mainly to ensure a relatively open and easy to maneuver space to walk around in. A round table is also a good idea, however unfortunately every round table where i live has huge table legs in the middle that block all freedom for your legs to move around under it, so I have gone with a rectangular table instead.

This is a purchased apartment with the following measurements excluding the kitchen part you see on the 1st photo.

Photo 2:

- The wall on the left is 1m89 from the door until the back wall..

- That back wall is 2m23,5 wide

- The wall on the right side until the door is 2m43,5

Photo 3:

- The wall on the left (behind the tv) is 3m38

- The wall with the windows is 3m50

- The long wall on the right side is 7m66 in total
