How much cleaning of walls will you need to do in a powder room? Maybe an occasional dusting? I can't imagine walls in powder room getting stuff all over them, but I also don't know what's going on your household.

So, FWIW, I don't like change of sheen in paint, especially not in a small room and especially not in a deep, saturated color.

To make it easy, try the entire room in satin finish. Paint color stays in the room. Even if the door stays open when not in use, the door is part of the white trim in other area.

Maybe add a very white piece of art in the powder room.

Change my mind when I saw this photo. Paint the mouldings white like the adjoining room. Then when the white door swings in, you see this concept:

Sink and toilet are Kohler Memoirs and I have them in every bathroom...master has two sinks. Had them in our last two houses, as well.

Very intriguing take on satin.

I was probably confusing. I do plan to leave hinge side of door the same color as the exterior face. There was something about the hinge side of the casing that had me confused.

Maybe the writer will notice this post and chime in.

The art doesn't have much white, but it is pretty light. Fixtures are white.

I have a little nightlight on the same wall as the door. It gives the room a bit of sparkle.

Still, IMO one sheen for entire room, whichever sheen you prefer.

I like an egg shell finish on a drench, plenty durable, and no shine. a subtle sueded look.

I paint everything you see on the inside the same, even if it is halfway through the trim/door moulding. What color/brand did you choose?

Another interesting view on sheens. Most of our house is colordrenched in white eggshell; walls, ceilings, trim. We enjoy it.

I had considered leaving the trim/door white. It would be less painting, no doubt. But my wife is excited about the idea of a real colordrench. I'm intrigued as well. One of the bedrooms has green walls and white trim, so we're familiar with the effect that you mentioned.
