May has been challenging. Very cool

We've been all over the place this May. A quite chilly start to May. Three straight days of 87-90 degrees F, followed by three days of mornings at 48 degrees, with the highs never getting above 56. Back to 83 degrees. No rain for weeks, followed by three straight days (on a holiday weekend of course lol).

April was the same. I've got shrubs that still show signs of freeze damage from a overnight freeze in late April, that then struggled in some super hot days (with no rain).

You just don't know what to expect anymore. We apparently no longer get a proper spring. If we get a couple of lovely, sunny, humid-free days where the sun is warm and the air is cooler, and temps are a beautiful 72 degrees, we are lucky. They are few and far between the extreme heat and/or colder-than-normal colds.

I am concerned how the summer will be. Not just for my garden, but I think of the crops out there that may be damaged by this fluctuating, abnormal weather. Yikes.

For my locale, it will again be a month of more than avearge rainfall.

This spring we had the wettest spring since they started keeping revords in 1872. May has been disappointing…..really dry and no rain predicted herefor at least a week. It is sad to drag the hoses out already. We added quite a few perenials the past month….. they are getting watered regularly.

The last two seasons were drought conditions.
