Is a Master bath tub necessary?

Renovating Master Bath which has a shower and separate bathtub. I would love to get rid of the tub and install very large, luxurious shower instead. There is a tub in another bathroom. Is a bathtub in a Master bathroom necessary for resale, or is a very large shower sufficient?

Go for it! Create the bathroom you want! When you go to sell the new owners will either really appreciate the spacious shower or they will use the bath down the hall.

Not in todays market. More and more homes are leaving out the tub in the master bathnd going with the luxury shower. You will be fine.

My home was renovated in 2010 before we bought it, and they turned a 3rd bedroom into a suite for my master bedroom (i.e. they added a bath, a hallway and a walk-in closet). I was surprised that my master bath didn't have a tub, but it's fine. I never use the one in our guest bath anyway.
