Any annual weeds that have not yet flowered can go in. Also kitchen waste like peelings, cores, tea leaves, coffee grounds etc. Paper if it gets too wet.

I imagine it'll be pretty heavy to turn when fully loaded.

It's pretty heavy empty, lol. He made me a tool that I can insert into the vent holes to get leverage to spin. You can't see them in that pic, but they are all around the barrel about 6" apart.

It looks heavy. Hopefully you won't have any trouble spinning it when it's loaded up. I often wish I had something like this (albeit smaller) to mix up batches of potting soil -- I usually do it in a wheelbarrow.
