It's wabbit season!!

Tomorrow is the 1st of the month and if the first words out of your mouth are "rabbit rabbit" you'll have good luck all month. Anytime after midnight is fine and no need to say it to anyone.

Best of luck to all!

    Hopefully I'll remember tomorrow.

Have you noticed a decline in the rabbit population in your area? It's been years since I've seen one. Yet at my previous home they were always around - eating my plants and hopping around the yard driving my dogs crazy. I have only seen 1 in the 8 years we've lived here and I assume the owls and foxes living in the woods behind my home prey on them,

Plenty of them here. Come 'n get 'em!

You can take the deer too--and their ticks.

I haven't seen one in awhile around our house, but I think it's because of the deer. They browse down so much vegetation that it leaves little room for stuff to grow where they can hide. They like undergrowth and "mess" if you will, brambles and hedgerows and such. Used to be you could barely walk or see through the woods in our area....now I can see hills from the road that I never knew were there because it's been so thinned out.

Oh gosh they’ve been all over here the past several years!

Speaking of our superstitions, several weeks ago I was looking at the $5 I had buried for New Years but still not given away. I decided to put it in my car so I’d have it with me at an opportune time. Well some time later I wanted to pay for something with cash, a rare occurrence, checked my pocket and saw a couple fives. It was only later that I realized I must have spent my NY’s money. I knew I never put it in my car. I was very annoyed.

Fast forward to this weekend and I was digging for something in my travel bag (I migrate every weekend) and there it was in the outter pocket! Definitely the one, I remember putting it there as I was getting set to go home. I was very relieved. As I’m typing this I have no idea what I did with it. It’s high time to get out of bed anyway, I need to find it and put it in my car. Then finally give it away!

We use to have jack rabbits when we moved here 40 years ago. I haven't seen any for several years now.

Regarding "rabbit rabbit" I will forget like I usually do. Blame it on my husband who talks to me when I wake up.

I definitely see rabbits around. We now have coyotes along with foxes so i hope the bunny population doesnt decrease.

Hope I remember to rabbit rabbit it the morning.

I cannot believe we are 6 months into 2026. Where does time go?

The year is flying past for sure.

I live in the suburbs and used to see rabbits all the time, standing in the middle of the road, just many. I haven't seen a rabbit in about 3 years. My guess is that we have been seeing fox around here, and have found rabbit pieces in the yard. I just wish the fox would eat squirrels. Its like a monkey jungle around here.

Thanks for the reminder, Annie. It's impossible to believe that June is just hours away. That's just crazy.

I have lots of rabbits around here. There isn't too much right in our neighborhood that would want to eat them. They occasionally get hit by cars but even that I haven't seen in a long time. The deer are the pests to me. They eat my flowers and plants and it's super annoying! The fact that there are two different neighbors feeding the deer is another aggravation altogether.

We did it twice. I woke up at 11:15 last night and stayed up til just after midnight. When I returned to bed I whispered it to DH and he repeated it ” mumbling”. When he turned over this morning just before 6 am I was already awake so I said it again loudly lol. He repeated it , looked at the clock, and said ” it’s too early”, and went back to sleep . So we are doubly prorected. 🙏🙏

Thanks to insomnia, I remembered and said it right at midnight. 😁

No rabbit population here because of neighborhood cats. I miss them.

We had them at our last house and one day I looked out and saw this huge, beautifully colored rabbit with big floppy ears eating birdseed under the feeder. It was in a circle with a bunch of wild rabbits. It was such a funny and weird sight! We caught the one that was clearly someone’s pet and kept it safe until we could figure out what to do. Later that day, a couple from a nearby street was knocking on doors looking for said bunny that had escaped their yard. We showed them pictures we took of all the rabbits eating together. 😄

I missed it. And still haven’t looked for that fiver.

Jilly, what a fabulous story!!! Magical even!! I love it and I love that the bunny returned to it's own home!

Thanks to a bathroom break, I remembered to say it.

Murraysmom, it really was magical, that’s the perfect word for it. :)
