The art is nice and I think the size is fine. Often, on this board, people are told that their art is too small- and that they need bigger art for over their sofas- and preferably, just slightly smaller than a 747. ;)

But really, there are no written in stone art size rules. And it is fantastic that you have a piece of art that you love! That’s what it’s all about.

The art seems a bit suspended- and if it could be lowered slightly, that would be good; but not a must do, of course. I think what may help is taking some of the art colors and incorporating them into pillows and maybe a throw. It would anchor the art and make it feel more in sync with the area. I am thinking that incorporating some of the green could have a significant impact.

I agree with freedomplace1. The art is not too large - it’s a nice size for space & it’s a pretty image. Also agree with lowering a tad & adding some touches of color to the room that are drawn from the image.

Thank you. Before taking the photos of the room. I removed green paint samples for that one wall; thinking when I paint it, I will move the painting down an inch or so. Have been hesitant to paint because it is such a small space and I don't want to make it seem smaller. Also, I live on the West Coast so rain during the winter months dulls the room. Pillows in green are a good suggestion. I've used mostly golds/pumpkin shades. This a the other side of the room.

I had thought about green paint on that wall when i first saw the space. BM Vintage Vogue is nice. But just adding a bit of green in pillows and/or throw might be all you need.

Thank you. I'm loving the West Coast and having left a large house and its contents behind when we moved, I am enjoying the freedom of living in a smaller space.

I would add a frame around the painting that is the wood tone of the arm chair, and pull it down a couple of inches. You could even add a small floating shelf the greenery on it. Add green pillows to sofa to tie that to the painting. Then add some green details to the other side of room

Thank you. I'm not in favor of framing the stretched canvas but I do like the added shelf that seems to balance the lamp on the other side of the sofa. Not sure how my husband would feel when bumping his head on it but I've often thought that there needs to be something else on the wall. I like the added cushions too -- in green. I appreciate your input.

I wouldn’t paint the wall as you’ll see a difference with just moving down a few inches. If you added some extra cushions, they might help to create more balance and fool the eye visually.

I do not find it too large but hung a bit high , I have large pieces on small walls often becuase that is where it worked. . Add some dark green to the sofa and it will look right at home

Art and its size and placement is subjective. There are no rules!

Yes, the size is fine ( I like it much more than a dinky one ) but it is hung too high, I like it.

It's fine, but, as said, hung too high. I think it should be framed and blinds installed...just in the colors @Design Interior South shows.

My one thought: the art is really the star of the room and I don't think the throw pillows relate at all.

Can you center the rug on the slider, pull the sectional out a bit from the wall, get the accent chair, at least the front legs, on the rug.

Also feel that the art is not too big but it is too high. If anything is too big for the room, imo it is the ladder on the fireplace wall-it seems to overwhelm that area or could just be the picture.

That was my first thought and easy to do. Yes, also lowering the art.

Design Interior South -- thank you for your suggestions to substitute blinds for the curtains and to move the lamp out of the corner. I have already done the latter and you are right - the sofa wall is now more balanced. The curtains were here when we arrived so will tackle them next.

Coffee tables can be really difficult with a sofa with chaise, but you've a beautiful and practical solution. Nicely done!

This is the type of frame that I would propose that gives the canvas art a finished look. It wraps around the canvas.
