When you say the desk must stay where it is what does that mean? Zero wiggle room? Why does it need to stay there? Can it be flipped and go against the wall? Can it be scooted to the left or right? What is around the corner from the show storage cabinet? Does that have to stay there? Stand at the TV and take a photo facing the sofa so we can see that entire back wall there. Take a photo where you are standing in these but aim more left so we can see whats around that corner. I am assuming youre standing in the kitchen? can you get a wider anged view of the entire room so we can see what we are working with?

I want the desk to stay in or near the corner it’s in now, and it needs to face outward. I spend all day sitting there, so lighting/view there is the priority. Anything else can be moved, replaced etc.

Next placement should be the largest piece in the room...the sofa.

Move it to the wall. While you are at it, definitely, get a felt pad for under the rug. It will make the rug look more expensive.

Center the t v/console on the sofa.

Now you have more room or two, even four chairs.

Remove the skinny console...maybe it can go at the entry?

--Put the TV on a long, low bookcase across the entire TV wall. Use baskets for your shoes so you can rehome shoe cabinet. Ikea is a great source for low bookcases. Get a couple if you need to so it goes across the wall.

Moving the desk to the opposite side provides easier access to the balcony and hopefully couch will fit along the wall. If feasible, a different desk style would have a nicer effect and you are still looking out. Measuring out is important to help you decide on your options.

This now opens up the room for chairs and consider creating an interesting focal wall.

Thank you for the additional photos. I understand you wanting to keep your view. Sadly it will never have the best layout with your desk in that position. I recommend before anything you get a great cord management system to tidy up the mess . as it really visually compromises the space. Some ideas that could work for you

Get a standard height desk the width of the sofa and use the back of your sofa as a "wall". i know you will have computer screens on the desk but this will give you an idea. If you were to shift the sofa to the window side you could open up the space to get some chairs to group and make a cohesive sitting layout. I would move your shoe cabinet to the entry wall and hang some art above it and find a narrow and long dish in which you can throw down keys , etc.

Option 2 would be much the same except it would be angling the sofa and desk slightly top open up the space more

As others have mentioned placing your desk against the windows would be the most natural and aesthetic layout

P.S. I have no idea who is living in this space , so the furnishings and colors were just based off what is there already. This could easily be a more colorful, neutral or feminine/masculine space.

That’s an awesome view! I think the set up you have currently is good, just add some additional chairs to add to your sofa, some occasional tables and tv console, and a larger rug. Then add in accessories to complete the look.

I had thought of putting a more attractive desk behind the sofa as @Design South suggests. You'd still have the view from the side and of the entire space. Give her layout a try.
