whatever color you like, but keep it petite with legs exposed and simple. Center the rug on the firebox AND the window. build the seating facing the fireplace. Swivel chairs are great if they are low back, so not overwhelming.

Flexsteel makes a sofa called the Digby. I have one that I've had for 16 years. It has a nice clean look and you can customize fabric and leg color. Mine is the 70" and perfect for a smaller space. If you find a Flexsteel dealer, you can customize the fabric. I like the tight back because I hate saggy back cushions. It's also available in a 3 seat option if you want something larger.
