Something wicked and magical just appeared on our patio…

It started as a simple idea for a patio corner. It ended up looking like something that belongs in a Disney theme park at midnight.

I built a 10ft decorative lamppost — but this one has a life of its own. At the top sits a real copper-roof cupola. On one side, a cluster of four tiny copper-and-brass houses floats at different angles, each one glowing from inside with warm LED light after dark, like little creatures live in there. On the other side hangs a handmade forged medieval lamp — made by a blacksmith in Ukraine — fitted with a flickering LED bulb that dances like real candlelight. Below it all, colorful directional signs point to Tokyo, Rome, Hawaii, Montreal, and more, each one oriented to its true compass direction.

When the sun goes down and everything lights up, it feels a little magical. A little mysterious. Maybe a little wicked. Our kids couldn't look away. Neither could we.

I documented the full build — every material, bracket, wiring detail, and trick — if anyone's curious about how it came together — see the full build

Has anyone else created something whimsical or enchanted for their outdoor space? Drop your project below — and if you want the full build breakdown, just ask!
